Welcome to Narz's Monthly Civ Challange! :goodjob:

I'm submiting two starts, an Earth one and one on a map I created. They can be downloaded at the bottom of this post.

I don't want anyone to get stired up, I'm not trying to replace GOTM, this is just something for those of us who have already finished the current month's GOTM to keep busy until the new month arrives.

There is a text file included which includes the game info but here it is anyway...

Both games are on King difficulty with 7 Civs.
The map was created with the Civ II Gold Map Editor (you can download it in the Civ II downloads). Both games have the "Roving Bands" level of barbarian activity. The Earth game is on the unaltered Large (120 X 75) version of Earth with the player as the Americans. The other is on a map which I named BigWarWorld, it is mostly land, normal sized map, flat world. Both games should be a good challange for the average player and a good competition to see who finishes first for the experienced player.

This is the scoring system I've created to keep track of the winners!
___________________________________________
Narz's GOTM score = regular Civ score multipled by...
Two : if win by spaceship
Three : if win by conquering all
Four : if your win is by OCC (One City Challange) your score is doubled once for the spaceship and doubled again for winning with one city.

Minus (year of conquest or space ship arrival dived by two) rounded up

I will keep track of and post the stats of anyone who plays!
Enjoy your journeys!
Note : The deadline for the custom map save to be finished by is July 4th, the Earth scenerio deadline is July 11th. Good luck all, I hope to get at least 10 players!

P.S. : I will add screenshots soon, how can I do this?

Very Interesting scoring system, Narz! I just noticed TF's front page writeup on the new Civ 2 downloads, including the work you have done, and see one of your maps is BigWarWorld! I'll have to play a big war on your BigWarWorld as time allows :). I'm D/L ing your maps now. Is it OK to look at the map ahead of time, or should it be played blind (in regards to your NMCC that is)?

PS, This is P2K for me, so it seemed appropriate for the GOTM Forum!

Its up to you (in regards to looking at the map).
Actually, I'll make an offical rule now. If you look at the map, -25 points off the final Civ score. Looking at the map won't help you too much because all the AI starts are randomized anyway as are the resorces and huts.

As for the Earth scenerio I won't give any penalty for looking at the map (prior to the game).

Please feel free to comment on how your games are going.

I take it that a BC finish will mean you add the year to your score.(not that I have any hope in accomplishing this

Sure, if you manage a BC finish then I'll add the year to your score. If you can manage that I definitely would love to talk to you about your statagy, cause that would be quite a feat!

Sounds good Old n' Slow. One thing I can promise is that I'll certainly view and rank all sumbited games alot faster than the official GOTM!

That wouldn't be too hard. The GOTM#16 results have taken over 20 days. :( I'm wondering if we'll ever get them.

Cool, 9 downloads, plus 3 (identical download) from my earlier post! :)
I hope all 12 of you finish! Feel free to let me know how your game(s) are going. You still got until July 4th (probably July 5th cause I'll be away for the 4th) to finish the first one and July 11th for the second. And as I mentioned I will score and rank everyone probably within a day or two of everyone submiting. I already have NMCC #2 ready, I think I will only include one start this time unless everyone would rather have two. All comments are appreciated. I enjoy doing this and I hope everyone is enjoying playing these out.

Narz,

I downloaded one from each site, so you're looking at 11 max (so far.)

I started the Earth version (scanty details may be available soon) & am at 1 AD. I have yet to meet anyone else (except a few barbs) & it brings up a thought: I'm thinking about never visiting the new world (but may have to for trade reasons) & wondering if one can fly to another star system & never meet the folks across the sea.

Annnnns they're off!

2650BC -- a warrior named Joe finds an empty hut. Decide that OCC won’t do for us -- Settlers on the agenda.
2200BC -- AL, CB, Writing & on to CL
2050BC (Ger destroyed by Russia (like we’d know))
1450BC (Babylon builds Pyramids -- see comment above)
1350BC Monarchy
1000BC -- 5 cities
525BC -- 8 cities
325BC -- 10 cities, 13 tech (5 white)
1AD (we even remembered to save) 11 cities, 14 tech. 2nd in disease, 7th in military service, 3rd in annual income, 1st in everything else. No boats, no contact with the other world.

Sounds good so far Old n Slow! I'm usually 7th in military too especially when I'm alone on a continent, I find the AI usually builds excess military but are usually very inept at manuvering and attacking with them. Keep up the good work!
