It’s time for Second Nations cup with some changes into rules and schedules. This time all 8 events are planned so that it would allow players all over to world particibate into this tournament. Some times are really bad for everyone and some times are really good for everyone. This Cup is open for everyone. All schedules has been planned so that team with 6 players can particibate into every event, but also so that team with bigger roster can play enough.

Nations are randomdly divided into 2 division(or 4 so that single events wont take too long). 2 best(in pts) from both groups will get into final round. Final will be held week after qualifying events in next saturday.

If there is more then 4 nations/division(more then 8 nations total) only best 4 in division(after 2 first day) will get into Sunday’s events. So there will be some eliminations of Nations after first 2 days(after 7 events).

Getting together and creating teams for nations:

Under Nationscup-forum(in civ3players-forum link in my signup) players can create threads to get players together. Nations teams can have 6-12 players. 6players is minimum for playing in this cup. If there will be for example 13players or more rdy to play in nation, players should be randomly divided into 2 teams. Nation can have 2 teams(for example Finland1 Finland2). Both can have 6-12 players. When Nation got clear roster and there has been enough time to reply into Nation's thread, players should vote for leader and leader will post roster into registering thread. Nation's roster can be changed until 1day prior first event(Thursday 10am est).

If it looks like 1 nation can’t get team together, they can create alliance between other nation/nations. For example Sweden, Norway and Denmark could form team Scandinavia. This can happen 7days prior first event, not before that (if Nations won't have enough players or of 1 nations is with less then 6 players and other nation with 6 or 7 players).

If nations ally they won’t get any ranking pts for next Nations cup. Only Nation’s team #1 will collect pts for Nations ranking. There will be basketsystem to random divisions for next Nations cup.

First timers quide:

Players must be member of ladder as this event is directed by Civ3players ladder admins & tournament directors and it uses ladder's tournament software. So if you aren't member check Civ3players ladder homepage and mail one of the admins to get invite.

After that I suggest you to play couple ladder game to be familirized with playstyle. Also play one of the normal tournaments to be familirized with tournament software we uses. We are running multiple tournaments every week.

These rules can be and probably will be slightly changed after I have analyzed different kind of suggestions in suggestion thread. This thread will stay locked on.

This will be a 2v2v2v2 single round event. There will be only 1 round so game is hosted normally. Choice of Civ will be based on the team rankings after the first day of play. In case of a tie, the team with the highest ranked player will choose civ first. Selections will go 1-2-3-4 then 1-2-3-4. Contacts, deals and tradings between teams isn’t allowed in any case. You can only contact with your teammate. Substitution allowed.

In case of a tie, the team with the highest ranked player will choose civ first. Civ selections will go 1-2-2-1-1-2-2-1. Dead man’s points are not counted! Substitution allowed.

Championship Round Matches

Saturday, Aug 21th, 2004 - Finals begin 9 am EST


After the first 9 prequalifing events the two leading teams from both divisions will be matched up into 3*2vs2vs2vs2. Each team will inform TD in charge, who will play for them in game #1, #2 and #3. After that TD will inform games. This has been done so that more players can play in Grand Final and it’s not just about 1 good start, but more about skills of team. Thera can be also many different tactics for final. No contacs are allowed between teams. No deals and no tradings. You can only chat with your teammate in same game. You aren't allowed to kill teammate.

There will be different pointsystem for finals. You will get pts from your Teams suggest in games.

Pointsystem of each game:

Killing someone in game: +2pts for your team
Taking city from enemy: +1pt for your team
Surviving into end of game: +1pt for your team
#1 in pts after game: +6pts
#2 in pts after game: +4pts
#3 in pts after game: +3pts
#4 in pts after game: +2pts
#5 in pts after game: +1pts

This pointsystem decide the winner of Nationscup. No earlier points are counted for Grand Final

Choice of civs:
game #1 & #2:

Civ choise goes to the team with the most points thru the first 7 rounds. In case of a tie, the team with the most events won chooses first. If there is still a tie after this, the team with the highest ranked ladder player chooses first.
