opus i definetley agree with your top half...but why did you keep going!

resources should be always visible because the ai knows where the resources are...and they will build a city where the resource will show up before they even have that research...and that pisses me off

Yes, of course you are quite right ... I'm just being idealistic. Perhaps this (searching for resources by stepping into them) would be a good idea for a multiplayer human game. I of course didn't consider that the AIs will find things automatically, because they know where they are. :)
 
I think we ougtht to diustinguish something. The game knows where all teh resources have been placed. The ai for each computer player, even though they are being run by teh same computer, dont necessarily have to know everything teh game knows.

Oh, good.

Does that mean that it IS possible to implement my "find resources (and Natural Harbor locations) only by stepping into them" idea, even for all the AI opponents?

This sort of discovery idea would make exploration even more crucial, yet not so easy.
