As the title says I picked up a Trojan pretending to be anti virus program

Microsoft Security Essentials Alert

I followed the instructions at http://www.myantispyware.com/2010/0...icrosoft-security-essentials-alert/#more-5184
(click at your own risk, I have so i think it safe, this ain't were i got it)

the instruction say: Click Start, Run. Type %AppData%

I then followed the instruction and renamed the two files the trojan created and restarted my computer.

The result is I can run firefox which allows me to log on here.

However I am leery of downloading for any site I don't know, and that is the next step. Can someone vouch for this site or recommend another? I still have a "fileCure - extension problem(s) found" in my task bar which I'm not clicking for now

HEEELLLLLPPPPPPPP, please

Ouch, a rogueware. I'll second MalwareBytes, Ive found it to remove most of those things.

www.safer-networking.org <-- Spybot Search and Destory
www.malwarebytes.org <-- MalwareByte's Anti-Malware
www.superantispyware..com <-- Super Anti Spyware
www.microsoft.com <-- Microsoft Security Essentials

These are good, there aren't many others that I would normally recommend.

You can also scan through a browser with Windows Live Onecare. The definitions should be the same as MSE, but via browser can sometimes work better if a virus is preventing MSE from running properly, or if you have a different AV installed and don't want to install a second AV.

Malwarebytes removes virtually anything, I'd recommend it as well.
