Need some ideas for a 2nd UU

Poland replaces Cuirassier (Hussar) and Cavalry (Uhlan). Hmmm... knights seem interesting.... but what do I call them?

"Styrian" as adjective isn't good enough for you?
Okay, how about using some German like they did for the HRE pikeman: eisenritter? (iron knight)
Seems appropriate since the area is known for its iron mining.

Except us ;)

I'd say Blücher was to thank for that. :p

Just to clarify the situation here; as far as I understand it you say the francisca doesn't show up at all during the attack motion? So if I put this unit in as-is, and attacked, the unit would act as if it were throwing the spear/francisca, but nothing would be thrown?

Yeah, exactly. I think I have to do something to the RangedStrike animation.

Yeah so did most of Europe at that time. So you cant have a UU if they lost? Austria lost alot, but youre still trying to come up with a UU for them. Thier other UU probably lost quite a bit as well. Most UU's actually werent very impressive in real life.

That is a good point.

Yeah man, they were up against friggin' NAPOLEON. There weren't many who can say they defeated him.

True, Napoleon was awesome.

Except us ;)

The only thing that saved you is the Royal Navy.

Eisenritter sounds cool.

The only thing that kept you from losing is the Royal Navy.

[SARCASM]Yeah, it's not like they did anything more than protect us. No offensives against the French fleet or the Spanish before they changed sides. And as for the British Army, just sitting on their backsides watching everyone else do the fighting.[/SARCASM]

:)

The Royal Navy are, while a whole load of rum, sodomy and the lash, generally good at their job. And it's not as if we fought a battle that re-defined European military strategy on land, is it?

I'm not saying that that's all the navy did, and I'm not saying that the British Army did nothing, I'm saying that if Napoleon had landed an army on the British shore, things would have come out very differently.

While we are on Napoleon, what color was his army? Blue, right?

Just out of curiosity what is your first Sioux UU? Are you using the dog soldier?

Yeah, I'm keeping the Dog Soldier. It may not be entirely accurate, but whatever.

@Geomodder: what should be the Austrian Knight's stats?

Israel.

My current 2nd uu is the Merkava, but I'd much rather have something from biblical times.

1st UU is Maccabee.

Let's make the unit memorable: Pinch promotion. :sniper: :D
Perhaps get rid of the first strikes immunity too. 25% extra strength on gunpowder units might be a bit overpow(d ;))ered without the enemy having a possible counter.

I dont see how it would be overpowered. Good yes. Pikes and longbows will still be there to keep it in check. There will be a brief time that its practically useless untill muskets actually start showing up.

Well, I was just thinking that it could overcome a grenadier...
Why do you consider longbows a good counter to knights? :hmm:

Battle of Crecy. English and Welsh Longbowmen made the Knight all but obsolete.
