Need testers for new editor

The name is in red because if you add a suffix, the pedia entry will get also.

Example:
You want to copy

Barracks with entry BLDG_Barracks

You would get

Barracks_1, BLDG_Barracks_1

But BLDG_Barracks_1 doesn't exist in the pediaicons.txt.

It is just a reminder to tell you "don't forget that".

If you add a suffix for the building name but nor the pedia (you want several buildings with the same graphics and same entry), then it won't be red (as the entry is already there).

Flavors is an option in the regular editor, so it's in mine also. But it's not sure it has a real in game effect.

Hmm, I did not know that it would do that, since I am going to need several different barracks for the Pacific mod that I am working on. That will make sure that I insert the necessary text for them.

About all I am using the Firaxis editor for is map work now, and positioning stuff.

My editor has a little more possibilities than Firaxis's :D.

Having the possibility to copy is very useful.

Example with my mod:
I create a generic swordsman, spearman and archer.

Then I select them, and use "create copy of selected units".

I ask to make flavour units for each civ, and in the list on the line you can keep the default adjectives. And then, you will get

British swordsman, British spearman, British archer, French swordsman, French spearman, French archer, German swordsman, German spearman, German archer, etc.

Or British swordsman, French swordsman, German swordsman, British spearman, French spearman, German spearman,

depending of the "group" options.

They are already set to be available to the correct civ.

Also, in the unit32.pcx, I have organized things in a specific way:
I have 25 columns. The left one is for generic units. Then the next one is for Britain, then France, then Germany, etc, in the same order as they appear in the civilization page.

And then each line correspond to a specific unit.

So the only thing I have to do is define the icone for the generic unit, and then my editor will automatically add to it the index of the civilization in the list.

To sum up, I only have to create one line, and then I get flavours for my 20 civs very quickly

Bug: If you "Add units from filter" to the stealth attack box, and do that twice, some options will be messed up, including the resource filter.

When you delete a difficulty level(something you cannot do in the normal editor), there is a notice that pops saying "that is not recommended."

Has anyone experienced problems with this? Is there a text file or anything else that should be modified as well? The game loaded up for me without problems so I think it will be fine.

Initially, in early Civ3 editor versions, they had a delete button, but a note was posted in the editor to not delete difficulty levels because it was against the law to do so in certain areas ?? (A pretty pathetic law). Regardless, I suppose they removed the delete option so people would not end up going to jail. :)

Can you be more specific and give an example, perhaps with screenshot?

I don't really understand what you mean.

Here's a screenshot:

Steps to create this bug:

- Select an unit with stealth attack (for example a Sniper)
- Select "Add from filter" in the Stealth attack box

Sometimes it happens on the 1st time, sometimes on the 2nd time in a row (for example, you have added all foot units, and now want to add all units requiring horses as well).

Has anyone had problems with using several units with the exact same name (different PRTO_ of course)? If I can safely have units with the same name, it would be amazing.

Sweet.

Yeah, at first my units were named:

Warrior
Warrior (space)
Warrior (2 spaces)

Noticing how dumb that looks in game it became:

French Warrior
German Warrior
Italian Warrior

Now back to just, Warrior. :D It'll be more confusing in the editor, but I like the simplicity in game.

As I have many upgrades, I use
Fr_01 Swordsman
Fr_02 Swordsman
Br_01 Swordsman
Br_02 Swordsman
etc

Looks a bit strange, but this way it's easy to organize in the editor, in the civpedia they are grouped by nation, and you can easily see the upgrades.

Version 0.8.0 is up

- Editor splitted in several smaller windows, easier to manage and update for me
- Correction of several errors with refreshing (ex: add something in a list, but refresh the wrong one, so you couldn't see the change)
- Correction of errors corrupting the file if adding/deleting some items (like Spaceship parts).
- Added a tool to count the number of units for each civ, each types, etc. Very useful to check overall balancing of large scenarios.
- Added a tool to edit the preplaced cities : change ownership, preplaced buildings, culture, size, etc.
- Added menus for the buildings, resources and units page to delete selected items from the map (but not from the rules)

Looks powerfull your editor it does ;)

Im going to try that latest version since im going to have to do some editing for my mod this week.

Steph, im getting an error when loading a biq, even with an uncompressed version, something to do with the index parameter, I would show you the log but most of it is in portuguese. I believe I have the C framework, does your editor have any issues with win7?

Great work with the new editor, but I can't seem to change unit PRTOs in the editor.
