I'm sitting on 25% of the population base of the world and augustus is at 16%. I need him to go from pleased to friendly to bring up the alliance option but there doesnt seem to be anything I can do. He has just the -2 "you traded with our enemy" modifier, everything else is positive.

what can i do?

mrt144,

It would seem that you need to continue to build on your 'pluses' with tactics such as; change to his favourite civic, swap to his religion, share a long war, gift him resources or technology, etc. as well as addressing the negative by ensuring that you have indeed cancelled any deals that you might have with his worst enemy. The negative trading modifier will eventually decay away, but sometimes it can be painfully slow.

I must say that I'm no expert on Permanent Alliances, however you need to share a long war or share a Defensive Pact for a while (the Defensive Pact will also require 'Friendly' for Augustus Caesar according to ori's reference) for the Permanent Alliance to become an option.

Finally, the title is "Need to get a Permanent Alliance for domination win" ... can't do it by yourself?

well, i would but im pressing 1800 and augustus is in the tech lead with robotics etc etc. I dont have any tech he wants, and we are both on two different continents. I suppose I could just declare war on a few people he doesn't like.

But I wish I could do it. I have one civ on my continent left but I really need to get to the other one to bash some heads, but that will take a lot of work. Ill go for it, but i definitely would like to make it happen faster.

perhaps using the paradrop feature to drop into his cities adn then attack his neighbors? Is that a possibility?

Is he already at war with someone that you're not?

I'm wondering what things are like with your last neighbour? Can you attack them and then bribe Augustus into your war?

Although I can't look at your game now (at work), if you upload it, someone might be able to suggest some pointers.

Ill do that when I get home. Although I might be slightly emberassed by some of the schoolboy errors that I've committed.

You don't need a Permanent Alliance for a Domination Win, you need a Permanent War!

Go over and stomp all over him!

Cheers.
