need to SLOW DOWN game turn speed

my son is playing Civ3 Complete and yesterday, during a minor fight with his sister, she leaned over to the keyboard and started pounding keys and now the turns that the computer takes for other countries (would that be the ai?) go so fast, it's hard to follow them
I looked thru all the posts I could find that had anything to do with speed, and I found that we can speed up the game turns by hitting "shift", but can't find anything to slow them back down ...

Go into preferences ([Ctrl]-P) and make sure all of the animations and show moves are turned on.

Unfortunately, that's not it, the animations and moves are turned on, it's just moving really really fast, you don't have time to see where the troops go or anything. Usually he would end his turn and then we could watch the other countries take their turns, but now he ends his turn and it's like bingbingbing and they're done....
his sister hit the keyboard and it just started doing it ... it had to be a keyboard thing, but we can't figure it out...

If you hold the shift key down, it speeds up the unit animations. If you press the capslock key down, it's the same as holding the shift key down. And if you have the capslock key down, and hold the shift key down, it cancels the capslock key being down. Why would you want to do that? I don't know, but you can.

If you're preferences are set to what you want them, I would check that.
