Nes2 I

Expect my orders tomorrow. I wasn't home at weekend so I didn't have time for nessing at all, my apologizes for that.

From Finland
To all nations:
The Treaty of Copenhangen is between Finland, Russia, Germany and Scandinavia. Other countries are not needed to accept the terms, just these four.
And Finland naturally accepts it.

To: Finland
From: Burgundy
Wrong. We don´t accept the treaty as we still se Scandinavia as METO, we also see scandinavian land as land to battle russians, germans AND fins if necessary.

Norseone, yes there are open spots, but please join after the update. Finmaster (darn it, I cannot wait until tomorrow! Can't you hurry up somehow? Anyway, if Anarchy sends orders before you do, I will update then anyway, okay?), AnarchyRulz have to send in orders.

but finnlands orders are pretty important!

darn, I suppose there is no time for that big story I was planning.. oh well, I'll pm the orders to you right away and write some stories tomorrow.

From Finland
To Burgundy:
Try to understand that we are not making a treaty with the meto alliance. We don't have to because it's not a SOVEREIGN COUNTRY - or do you assume that it is? In that case you'd naturally have to take away the sovereignity of member states in the alliance. I'd say that it is very strange for you to declare the sovereignity of a nation who was supposed to be your friend to be null and void. Frankly it surprises us that they don't declare war on you because of that - Finland would if we would get treated like that, even by so-called friends.

To Scandinavia:
If Burgundy invades your land without your permission as they are threatning (of course they couldn't do it WITH your permission, since that would mean another war between Scandinavia and the nations surrounding it ;)), let us know and we will come to your help to drive them off your lands.

To: Finland
From: METO
Scandinavia is no longer our friend. However, war will not continue on their soil for now.

When it war it very well can. Oh well, I have Finland's order now. Guess I will start update soon.

After this update, make Hungary NPC, as I do not have much time for orders at the moment.

@Norseone: Feel free to be Hungary.

Beginning update.

Norseone, I would not suggest being Hungary. You'll see...

Update 5 – Year 1906.

Global Events:

The Iroquois militarisation has just one more year to go, and people expected that when it will, Iroquois will start an aggression spree.
The people were wrong.
Iroquois forces already attacked the Aztecs,
using air force, navy and army.
The Iroquois have perfected the use of the tank-and-plane tactics,
and by year’s end, the Aztec forces were routed and demoralized,
Houston and Tenochtitlan have fallen, and Emperor Montezuma XIX was taken hostage.
A German observer labeled this frighteningly fast campaign “blitzkrieg”.

(-10 Aztec divisions)

In Inca Empire, all is as usual.
The work on the Panama Canal, abandoned during WWI at the request of Iberian government, has started again,
and it is a joint Brazilian-Incan enterprise.

Brazil, after the panic over Lord Iago II’s policy last year is greatly calming down.
In the meantime, the colonial Africa has been decreased in political weight, which, quite frankly,
suits the local administration quite fine.

Scandinavia, despite the METO outcry,
left the “Eurasian War” by the Treaty of Copenhagen,
greatly limiting Scandinavian navy and leading to reparations that damaged Scandinavian economy to a great extent.
But despite the loss of Northern Sweden, the fact that Jutland and Copenhagen are free again has to some extent calmed down the majority of the Scandinavian parliament.

Countries participating in the Eurasian (formerly Anti-Communard Crusade) War start full mobilization,
providing more troops for the massive offensives and battles.

Burgundian naval command has miscalculated AGAIN.
It’s entire fleet was sent to lure the German fleet out of the Baltic.
That it did, and it also lured out the numerically superior Finnish Fleet, leading to one of the most furious naval battles in the war so far,
the Battle of Heligoland.
Eventually, Germany’s fleet is even smaller,
Burgundian fleet is heavily damaged and decreased and retreats, and Finland’s fleet is battered but triumphant.

(-2 German task forces, -5 Burgundian task forces, -4 Finnish task forces)

Germany is in outrage!
News have been released, with proof,
that Comrade Lenin has been assassinated by Burgundians.
Many of the Party’s members demand that Burgundian government is to be executed by a firing squad without a trial.
Overall military morale rises for Germany,
as soldiers seek to avenge their leader.

As if trying to match their respective navies in ferocity and in casualties,
the Burgundians and the Germans have started the Battle for Hamburg.
It soon deteriorated into urban fighting,
especially around the foundation of the to-be Statue of Freedom. Eventually, the Burgundian numbers told the tale and Hamburg area was occupied,
but the casualties from both sides are heavy and almost equal.
Germans compensate the defeat by achieving air superiority and destroying the majority of the entire Burgundian air force
which participated in bombing or escorted the bombers during the battle with their (German) far more numerous air force.

(-10 Burgundian divisions, -10 German divisions, -7 Burgundian air wings, -2 German air wings)

Burgundian forces meet up with Hungarians in their Danube offensive,
cutting off the German forces in the south from supplies.
Soon, however, the Germans forces there still retake most of their territory in the chaos that soon came in Italy...

(-1 Burgundian divisions, -2 German divisions)

In Italy, the panic and tension that followed Antuan’s assassination,
the military failures and the depression with famine have culminated in one month of chaos.
Communists, who were gaining alot of influence lately,
have rebelled country-wide, and the provisional military council (apart from one General Badoglio) was captured when trying to flee for Hungary. They were executed.
The new Communist government controls a half of Italy’s army.
Remaining five divisions defected to Burgundy, other five divisions deserted, and finally,
ten divisions, led by General Badoglio, have crossed the Straits of Messina to Sicily, where they signed a deal with the local Mafia,
putting the influential local boss Angelo da Nigri into joint control with Badoglio over Sicily and Malta.
Badoglio vowed to fight on from Sicily.

In Hungary, democratic reforms take place,
though it is not a complete democracy yet.
On the front, Hungarians defeat the poorly-coordinated German offensive and pushed on, taking Dresden.

(-1 Hungarian divisions, -1 German division)

In what seems to be a suicidal and insane attempt to attack Russia itself,
Hungarian troops in the former Baltic Federation cross the Russian border and bump into Finnish troops.
After fierce fighting,
Hungarian forces retreat back into German territory.
The forces in that area is outstretched, and no longer have local support.

(-2 Hungarian divisions, -1 Finnish division)

On the homefront, however, the Hungarians suffer a series of defeats that undermines their morale.
The massive Russian army stormed in, vastly outnumbering the Hungarians,
especially after ten Romanian divisions were formed, in exchange for Romania’s independence after the war
(though these forces failed to undermine the Hungarian transport capability in the Carpathian mountains).
True, guerilla resistance is a problem, but... Hungarian forces outstretched themselves in defense of their land,
and Russia’s strike came not against these defenses,
but against Budapest, which immediately fell,
as it was undergarrisoned,
and it’s defenders failed to last for long.
Furthermore in south, Balkan Alliance has invaded the unprotected south, “liberating” Croatia and parts of southern Hungary.
Hungarian government is in the hiding, and support for war begins to wane despite the victories in Germany.

(-1 Hungarian division, -2 Russian divisions)

Back at home, Russia is prospering despite all.
Moscow-Baghdad railroad is completed (giving +2 Economy to both Russia and Arabia).

And most importantly,
Russian scientists makes several important breakthroughs,
making Russia enter Middle Modern Age (see below)!

Arabia begins to work on a new, highly classified project.
Rumors are,
that it is a weapon, that could win for Arabia the Turkish War.
With Egypt’s support, it should take just four years...

British high command is indecisive,
and so the British forces are on the defensive.

While the Arabian forces are occupied elsewhere,
Occitanian and Iberian forces invade the Holy Land, in Operation Crusade.
Despite fierce Arabian civilian resistance and the Turkish division that arrived to help Arabs defend Jerusalem,
the Occitanians succeed in taking Jerusalem.
Prime Minister Louis Chaberouth promises a National Jewish State after the war.

(-1 Turkish division, -1 Occitanian division)

Battle for Suez deteriorates into a trench war.
That does not prevent Islamic troops, now joined by Turks,
to advance across Northern and Northeastern Africa, supported by the Muslim population.
They are not really opposed seriously, anyway.
Liberians advanced unopposed, liberating the coast of Arabian Central Africa.

(-1 Occitania division, -2 Iberian divisions, -1 Arabian division, -2 Egyptian divisions)

For some strange reason,
the Indian offensive in Persia stops and forces there fortify.
In the meantime, Russian forces are being delivered by railroad to Siberia and Persia as fast as possible,
but no offensive comes from Russia,
apart from a small-scale winter offensive,
which was abandoned after it was found out that the Japanese are well-equipped for winter warfare.
Russian industries rapidly move west.

The Japanese have landed unopposed on Kamchatka,
and launched an offensive along all of the frontline.
India, in the meantime, launched an offensive in Tibet,
but due to coordination problems,
it received only marginal Japanese help in the region.
"Fortress Tibet" falls, but most of the surviving Russian troops there, along with the rumored Guerrila elite, the Guard, and the local Tibetans continue guerrila war behind the enemy lines.
As a matter of fact,
Japanese and Indian forces receive heavy guerrila resistance everywhere,
and lose certain amount of troops and supplies due to this problem.

(-3 Russian divisions, -5 Indian divisions, -5 Japanese divisions)

Today, a great and unexpected event took place.
Mongol chieftains from some of the Japanese and occupied Russian territory have met today in one spot.
A new Khan announced himself and promised a return to former glory.
Surprisingly, the chieftains agreed (probably following the previous Chinese example),
and already, nearly all the surviving Mongol population
(OOC: which is bigger then in the real world)
rallied under the new Khan’s banners.
The newly-announced Mongol Khanate is quite a bone in Japan’s throat,
especially as it cut off the majority of supplies to the advancing Japanese troops in Siberia.

To add to that, in Japanese-held China south of the Yellow River,
there is great dissent and many people demand for these areas to be joined to the Chinese Republic.

Random Events:

With China’s independence comes a rise of patriotism,
and of cultural and national revival (+2 Culture).

India is backstabbed by it’s Muslim population.
Five Pakistani divisions mutinied, killed their Hindu commanders, and deserted (-5 Divisions).
Large areas of Pakistan are in uprising (-1 Culture).
There are rumors that some foreign power is fueling the uprising.

Spotlight:

A New Age

“Even when beset by foreign invasions, our Motherland remains a stronghold of science.”
- Doctor Pavel Abrikosov, Russian scientist and engineer. 1906.

In November 1906, what was named the “March of Russian Science” begun. Russian institutes and scientists there worked hard. Most of the research has been military-based, ofcourse, due to the raging “Eurasian War”, as it was now called.

Soon, many advances were made. Faster, stronger-armored tanks. Biplanes were now outdated, with the more advanced airplanes (OOC: think kinda like early WWII aircraft). Trucks and armored transport, allowing for mechanized infantry. And with intensive development of the atomic physics, it was proven possible (though it would take a REAL lot of time and funding) to harvest nuclear energy itself, after sufficient development of technology to do that, ofcourse.

While the Indian and Japanese research teams were also reaching more or less the same ideas (and now that Russians actually developed these, it is far more likely for India and Japan to pass into the next age as well), the Russians have the temporary advantage now, and how that would effect the Eurasian War remains to be seen.

NPC Diplomacy:

From: Iroquois Nation
To: The World

Please, do not stand to the defense of the blood cult in Azteca. They sacrifice thousand of their own people and foreigners every day, and that is not something we will tolerate right on our border.

From: Italy
To: Germany

We propose peace. That madman, Antuan de Filippi, has tricked and betrayed us, the people of Italy. But now, people are at power, Antuan is dead, and his cronies have fled. If we sign peace on pre-war border, we will ally with you and assist you in defeating the fascists who helped Antuan. What do you say?

From: Sicily
To: METO countries

Our nation – Italy - is in strife, and a group of people murdered the rightful government. They lied to the people, and they will probably now betray you, their only true friends, for their worst enemy. That Italy is not in METO, but Sicily is. Please, help us defeat the damn communards in Rome!

OOC:

thebignastyone, that project that you proposed should take 33 years. I think it is better to continue the steady militarization.

Stalin006, it would really help if you say with how much troops to attack.

Heine, tossi, Mongols are Erez’s.

OOC: Would it be possible to list the Guards and the Romanian divisions seperatly?

OOC: Hamburg has not completely fallen yet has it?, both sides are still fighing for supremacy as of now.

tossi - well, I doubt that is necessary. If you think it is...

stalin006 - the Hamburg area is occupied by Burgundians, so they control Hamburg, though there is still heavy resistance in the city.

PEOPLES REPUBLIC OF GERMANY

In the German Peoples Chancellory

Premier Stalin:
Gentleman, Germany is facing the worst, military defeat!, i have just received information telling me about the collapse of Hamburg!, we cannot allow the fascists continue to cut through our sacred land!, with the fall of hamburg the project of the liberty campaign cannot be completed!!........2 years!, 2 years wasted!. our fleet is no more!, the hungarians continue to push through our land as they wish......THIS MUST END....NOW!, I DONT CARE HOW MANY LIVES........JUST DO IT!

Chairman of the ministry of Truth, Joseph Goebels:
well......... the ministry of truth is working day and night launching propaganda in full swings, we can do so much.... w/ the capture of Hamburg we cannot complete the statue of freedom, the highlight of the freedom campaign program. I sugest we cancel the program.

Chairman of the Ministry of Peace, Hindenburg:
Well, we can easily use those funds!, a giant statue is not going to win this war. Comrade Tirpitz is asking for funds to rebuild the fleet.

Stalin:
General hindenburg....... we wouldnt have this problem if you did your job and stoped the burgandian advances!

hindenburg:
i would have!, but you dont even tell me with how many troops to attack !!!

Goebels:
dont speak to the premier like that!!

Stalin:
this war is tearing us appart!!, cancel the propaganda project, i guess the statue of freedom will not be built after all.... move those funds somewhere, as long as they do something!.

female secretary:
sir, we have a telegraph, from Italy

Stalin:
lets see it.........at last!, some darn good news...

DIPLO
TO ITALY
FROM GERMANY:
Finally!, the reason we gave back the alps years ago was in hope that our nations would find peace and prosperity together.... your proposal is fully accepted!.

THE STATUE OF FREEDOM
This was designed to be the worlds tallest man-made object, it was designed to be placed in hamburg, welcoming all worker immigrants to the largest german harbor...... but due to war exaustion and need for all the resources towards the war effort, it was cancelled.

A PAINTING OF HOW THE HAMBURG SKYLIGHT MIGHT HAVE BEEN LIKE....

small mistake on map, Hamburg is mine. MUAHAHHHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAH
