Update 8 - Year 1295 CE
Global Events:
Tarunist States of America are declared... an independant nation by Voitto Palmen and a traitor by many other Tarunists.
(spotlight)
(-23 TSA UU, -21 Fennian battalions, -11 Britannian battalions, -3 Visgoth UUs)
The Svenians, receiving huge reinforcements from Europe, crushed the Visgoth fleet off Yucatan and the Visgoth expeditionary force in Yucatan. However, the Svenians took no heed of the reports about the Incan army, and launched an attack on Mayan positions. While the Mayans were beaten back, the Svenians soon faced the Incan (slightly) superior technology (not counting horses, but horses can only give a marginal advantage to Svenians), (considerably) superior disciplinne and (extremelly) superior organization. The results were sad for the Svenians, as they were pushed back once more, especially after the Mayans used their devilish "firespits" (essentially, primitive napalm - the Mayans don't have a lot of it, but what they had was quite enough against people who never saw that before)...
(-19 Incan battalions, -11 Mayan battalions, -14 Visgoth battalions, -29 Svenian battalions)
Svenians take revenge on Visgothia in the Carribbean, burning down most Visgoth colonies (-2 Visgoth economy, +1 Svenian economy). Militias at Varidrung fought bravely, killing many Svenians, but were crushed utterly. In the new vacuum of power, the Carib cannibal raiders are beginning to retake control over some of the islands. They are yet to become an organized state, but it is not beyond possible...
(-2 Svenian battalions)
The Scotians were crushed with ease. After the disappearence of the king and the death of Brian Macrik (leader of resistance in Eire), the Scotian army surrendered and was slaughtered. Britannians and Visgoths now hold almost all of the British Isles, minus the last Scotian fort, bravely held by the Baltian expeditionaries.
(-1 Scotia, -2 Britannian battalions)
Severoslavian fleet was, for the most part, safely hidden from the Svenians by now. Having defeated the Burgundian fleet, the Svenians begin raiding Severoslavia and Burgundia for plunder. The Severoslavians already transported most things of serious value further south, but Burgundians were taken by surprise (1 Economy transferred).
(-11 Burgundian ships, -4 Svenian ships)
The Svenian Great Army launched several powerful attacks on Severoslavians. The Severoslavians have since regrouped, but were overwhelmed by the Svenian attacks. Beliy Gorod, an important religious and cultural center, has been pillaged by the Svenians (+1 Economy for Svenia). The Rus Coast is in the Svenian control, and from there, the agricultural centers of Severoslavia came under attack (2 Economy transferred). The Severoslavians, meanwhile, employed Drevlian tribesmen, Volkoshkurs, to attack Svenian supply lines. The Svenian casualties are mounting, as the further away from the coast they move, the tougher is the Severoslavian resistance.
(-29 Severoslavian battalions, -3 Severoslavian UUs, -30 Svenian battalions)
Britannians, following up the fall of Scotia, occupied Narviburgh. From there, they quickly advanced into undefended northern Svenian, Anglian and Fennian lands. The only casualties so far came from attrition and slight resistance.
(-1 Britannian battalion)
The Black Army just... disappeared. Europe is filled by different rumors, largely spread by Polian merchants in Italy (all the gossip comes from Rome).
Khazars, leading coordinated and furious attacks, routed most of the rebels. In fact, the only ones who are still fighting are the three surviving Baltian battalions that fell back to the border areas.
(-3 Khazar battalions, -1 Khazar UU)
The Alexandrine forces have arrived in Odessa, where they claimed to have come to fight the Black Army. Naturally, the Baltian commander there did not buy that, and attacked the Alexandrines head on. After hard battles, the remaining Alexandrine troops were forced to fall back to the ships...
(-19 Baltian battalions, -11 Alexandrine battalions)
After laying low for over a decade, the Berbers, now with a new leader, seem to have reemerged. They were, for that decade, rebuilding their fleet and constructing a secret port of the Atlantic Ocean. While a smaller fleet used demolition tactics to destroy large parts of the Lombard fleet (which located the Atlantic port and attempted to destroy it), while the rest seem to have fled somewhere south. There, they burned numerous Tarunist and Christian colonies as they went luckily, all those already lost most of their profit. Where did they go afterwards is anyones guess.
(-10 Berber ships, -19 Lombard ships)
Xenokratis Alexandrine expedition begun. Xenokratis sailed from Alexandrine to the Pillars of Hercules, and, though slowed down by the storms, arrived to Old Varidrung (sometimes called the Bermuda. New Varidrung, or just Varidrung, is the Bahamas). It is believed that in the next five years, he should reach the rumored island to the south from Atlantis, called by some natives the Empire.
Zulus finish off the Khoisan League, suddenly allowing the few surviving Khoisans to join the Empire.
(-2 Zulu battalions)
Byzantines seem to have failed to learn the lesson of the Khazarian offensives in Anatolia attacking in the mountains is almost a suicide. The Byzantines lost many troops, while managing to advance beyond the Khazar borders (to which the Khazars chose to retreat) only in one area. On the southern front, Persians and Judeans joined forces, and pushed nortwards, though they were stopped perhaps temporarily at Trebzond.
(-39 Byzantine battalions, -7 Khazarian battalions, -11 Judean battalions, -2 Judean UU, -5 Persian battalions)
Seeking to somehow resolve the vassal crisis, King Vijaya had travelled to Chungar to officially confirm Alatesh as the Turkanese ruler and to hold a meeting of the vassal state rulers to resolve this crisis. Unfortunately, he arrived too late for the latter. By the time he had arrived, the war already started. It is unknown what really happened - either the Greater Manchurians and Baluchans chose to attack pre-emptively, either the Turkanese soldiers did raid Baluchan and Manchurian villages as claimed later. Nevertheless, the Greater Manchurian and Baluchan armies attacked Turkan. Shashlyk-Khan had enough time to gather a huge army, and so the Turkanese forces were soon defeated at Nashgyr. In the west, though, the Baluchan forces were outmaneuvered, cut off from their supplies and crushed. Tibet and surprisingly Nepal were quick to condemn the Greater Manchurian and Baluchan attacks. It seems that Sinhalese vassal system collapsed, even though the tribute still was sent to Sinhala this turn, and the Manchurian attack has been stopped as soon as the news of Vijayas arrival reached Shashlyk-Khan. Nevertheless, the First Vassal War has begun...
(-12 Turkan battalions, -9 Baluchan battalions, -7 Greater Manchurian battalions)
Juankorum has been put under a harsh siege. It is unknown whether or not it will hold out for long, but it seems as if someone is, for some reason, assisting the commune with supplies. But how?
Meanwhile, Ming China is officially declared, Shai Pai Ming/Hong Wu has been crowned in Hangzhou.
The Tokugawa-Hamamatsu alliance is no more! Tokugawas fleet destroyed a part of the Hamamatsu fleet, and bombarded the faction capital. Luckily, Sheguwata was away being crowned in Edo.
(-5 Tokugawan ships, -7 Hamamatsu ships, -1 Hamamatsu economy)
Tensions are rising in Java... The king is getting old, and has two potential supporters an older, pro-Sabahese bastard son (Aurivayam) and a younger but legitimate Brahmatrin (OOC: BananaLee, what was the REAL name of that prince?). Though a civil war between the two factions is yet to begin (as the king is yet to die, though he is increasingly ill), it seems that both princes are busy searching for supporters and preparing to move against each other. Both princes also barely survived several assassination attempts.
Sinhalese expansion in Kangappura does not go too well, there are simply not enough people who want to go there by now, most of the overpopulation in India Proper has been dealt with sufficiently via encouraged migration to Kangappura.
Random Events:
The Britannian national anthem was invented (+1 Culture).
Sheguwata was crowned as the Japanese Emperor. More samurai troops joined his elite guard and army (+5 UU).
Hearing of the rebellion in Atlantis, Mielus II had a heart attack and fell into a coma. NPC Fennia was unable to send any orders.
Sheguwata was crowned the Japanese Emperor (+1 Confidence).
With Hong Wu's coronation, many parts of China are now under firm Chinese rule once more (+2 Economy).
Spotlight:
Tarunist States of Atlantis.
"Greatest treachery in the history of the True Faith."
- attrib. to Scotian General Brian Macrik. Year 1295 CE.
In 1295, the Fennian nobles, dissatisfied with Mielus, and led by a triumvirate of Palmen, Ikapaiva and Lappainen, decided to create a kingdom of their own. The "Tarunist States of Atlantis" was, despite what its name suggested, a single state.
Voitto Palmen had the leading role in the new nation. He had the loyalty of the Colony Guards, all of them, and this allowed him to establish control over much of the East Coast easily. It was then that the whole scheme almost fell apart - the regular troops in Finntown were loyal to Mielus. Luckily, Palmen managed to take hjis foes by surprise, and in a hard battle in which many Guards died as well, the entire local garrison was slaughtered. It was then that the Britannians attacked as well. Unfortunately, the Britannian army (attacking from Scotian territory, moving south rapidly) outstretched its supplies and the Colony Guard eventually pushed them out of much of the teritorry apart from the northern Fennian colony. In large part, this victory only succeeded thanks to Lappainen arriving in the right time. And even that was not the end. The Visgoth grand campaign against TSA was largely postponned by the Svenian raids, but the Visgoths nevertheless landed just south of Finntown.
In Fennia, Ikapaiva, haivng acquired the "portable cannon" designs, destroyed the Statue to Mielus in a move that made the message very clear and decreased moral amongst the Fennian troops. That opened the path for the Britannian invasion of Scandinavia...
NPC Diplo:
From: Regent of Anglia
To: TSA
TREACHERY!!! We DEMAND that you IMMEDIATELLY renounce Christianity and return to Fennian rule, and pray for Mielus' and Tarun's mercy!
From: Regent of Anglia
To: Other Tarunists
The cursed Fennian "noble" fools have betrayed our faith and converted to Christianity! They assisted the cowardly enemy attack on Scandinavia itself and brutally slaughtered true Tarunists in Finntown! We believe they must be crushed immediately.
From: Byzantine Empire
To: Khazaria
We repeat. Pre-war borders. We MIGHT agree to cede to you Crimea IF you agree to the peace right now. We will also let your allies go away in one piece.
From: Greater Manchuria, Baluchan
To: Sinhala
We would like to ask you not to intervenne, at least. We have solid evidence of Turkanese treachery.
From: Turkan
To: Sinhala
We ask for your military assistance. We also suggest the dismemberment of Greater Manchuria and Baluchan.
From: Aurivayam
To: Sabah
Your offer is interesting. I see no reason for me not to give in to your claims after all, what you claim is useless to us if, ofcourse, you carry out your part of the deal.
OOC:
Note that you people can only mobilize ONCE.
sgt. Hellfish - remember that you have to grow UU separately from your troops to get them.
Dont forget about the scapegoat of the turn BananaLee!

Did I forget anything? Probably did, but thats what we have scapegoats for, no? MUWHAHAHAHAA!
Capulet (and everybody else), you cant possibly expect to advance technology as quick as some of you seem to plan. For one thing, it will be AT LEAST two more turns before you can even hope to get to the next age. One of the reasons is that there is no real reason for such breakthroughs, at least, nobody of influence really wants such radical developments.
For your reference:
Early Colonial Age = OTL 15th-16th Century tech (with divergences).
Middle Colonial Age = OTL 17th Century tech (with divergences).
Late Colonial Age = OTL 18th Century tech (with divergences).
Do I make myself clear?
Tossi, BananaLee, as always, you can retrieve the espionage reports via PM. I often forget to PM those reports unless reminded to in PM form.
