New and Changed Unit Stats

I rechecked the OPs and I still can't find anything on the new mounted unit, just the adjusted values on the old ones. Has it been released, or am I blind?

You're not blind. It's not on this thread. However, I don't know if that information has been released elsewhere... :(

The above right picture shows the Anti-Tank unit. It carries a type of rocket launcher, like the SAM infantry. Appearantly, the Anti-Tank's rocket is good for destroying tanks, while the SAM's rocket not. Like-wise, the SAM's rocket can shoot down aircrafts and gunship, but the Anti-Tank's rocket cant. What gives?

I just hope they don't make those "anti-xyz" too strong. Right now those SAM infantry hits the planes a bit too frequently to my liking already, and the more expensive horse archers basically can do nothing vs the cheap spears. I don't want to see my hard-earned tanks lost most of the battles against some cheapie anti-tanks.

Tell me how often a tank get killed by those anti-tank rockets, anyway?

If the missile hits, nearly always, anti-tank guided missiles are highly nasty

I hope the Anti-Tank Infantry comes a little bit later than the Tank. Because the AT Infantry is quite strong against Tanks …

Defending Anti-Tank Infantry:
Tank: 28 vs. Anti-Tank Infantry: 14 +100% +25%(Ambush I) +25% (Fortify Bonus) = Tank: 28 vs. Anti-Tank Infantry: 35

Attacking Anti-Tank Infantry:
Anti-Tank Infantry: 14 vs. Tank: 28 -100% -25%(Ambush I) = Anti-Tank Infantry: 14 vs. Tank: 12.44

Well, right now they can only intercept once a turn though, so unless there's an entire army of SAM infantry, you know you'll be able to get bombers through unmolested at some point during the attack.

That's what air support is for. ;)

If anti-tank infantry wouldn't have a slight edge over tanks, then they really wouldn't be anti-tank infantry, they would be tank fodder.

Normal infantry fully fortified has strength 25 vs tanks 28, so slightly weaker. So anti-tank infantry should be stronger than that. Anti-tank infantry has such a low basic strength that it will only be good against tanks and will be massacred by any other modern unit. I really think it is a good addition.

Thats because they're very different weapons. The Anti-Tank's rocket is a RPG: low range (maximum ~500m), no guidance system, very powerful warhead designed to kill tanks. The SAM on the other hand has higher range, guidance systems for directing the rocket into the target, and a light warhead, because airplanes are fragile.

Hitting a tank with a SAM is possible (unless a safety mechanism prevents it), but the warhead will probably do no damage. Killing an airplane with a RPG is possible, but hitting it will be next to impossible.

I could probebly sift through the many screenshots or threads to find this out but it would take too long, but is there no longer a cap of 3 spys at one time in BTS like there was in Vanilla?
That is correct, according to the Gamespot videos. (In video 2, I believe it is, the cursor runs past the spy build in the city screen and you can see that it says nothing about a three unit limit, where it does in Warlords and Vanilla Civ) To see it, though, you need to get it at exactly the right time, as he scrolls by it very fast; it took me about five minutes of trying to pause it at exactly the right time because I was very concerned about this.

I'm sorry that I don't have a screenshot to prove it to you, but I hope you'll take my word for it. :)

Yes, it seems now you can have as many spies as you want.

I'm glad about that becuase it means you could assign a spy to all the your cities to do counter espionage, so long as you have enough spy points

and money for the upkeep costs :)

i like it as well
now you can see the enemy cities with enough spy points - so there is no need to limit the amount of spies in the game...

I've just thought of something - can we trust all of the hammer costs that they have shown us? For all we know, they might not have been playing with normal game speed.

That’s right. We don’t know for certain.
However the screenshots are made from the three Gamespot videos.
The Submarine needs 150 hammers in the screenshot. That’s the amount you need in the normal game speed in Warlords.

I've thought that also. Ironclads and Machine Guns have also normal-speed costs they had in Warlords. Most of GameSpot screenshots, if not all, show a game save using Boudica as the leader. I doubt that screenshots would have been taken from another game compared to the videos.

Looking at the new SAM infantry and the Mobile SAM, appearantly SAM infantry is better shooting helicopters than the Mobile SAM (at least barely).

SAM infantry: 18 str + 75% vs helicopter = 31.5 (no promotion or defense bonus)

Mobile SAM: 22 str + 50% vs helicopter = 31 (lol, no promotion or defense bonus)

Also, the Mobile SAM looks like it may be a siege weapon, therefore it doesnt get def bonus, so the SAM infantry are even better at defending, and maginally better at attacking gunships. However, gunship are readily get pinch (after combat 1) then charge (after combat 2 and can gunships get charge promotion?)
