New chat room

Hi Thundy. I had been coming to the old #demogame chat room for some time, and never had any problems myself, except for a single episode of Nickserv slowness. However, in this new irc-chat.net, everything is odd, slow, and mostly unworkable.

First, I tried to get on about twenty minutes ago. It took 5 MINUTES to connect, as opposed to the former 15 seconds. Then, it told me that my nick was taken. The odd thing about THAT was that I had registered it the day before. Then, about 10 seconds after I got into the #civfanatics chatroom I see that most horrifying of sights: 4 people were disconnected at once! (Note: Last night I witnessed an 8-person channel dump) THEN, i found out that I coun't speak! (Note: Chieftess explained that appearantly it will not auto-voice unregistered members... even though I had registered the day before!)

Well, I just wanted to let you know that this chatroom is as bad as the old one. And everyone: Feel free to post YOUR gripes here!


PS: Upon further investigation, it was discovered that Nickserv is DOWN, and that no further registering of nicks, getting nick help or entering a password for your current nick is allowed.

I happen to like the new one... more than the old one atleast. It's going to take me alittle bit of getting use to, but I haven't had any problems with it yet.

I don't know.
I was happy at webmaster since I knew how to use it, despite the everyday netsplit.
On this new server, I haven't the slightest clue to what I am doing, DSPro refuses to indentify my nick automatically like it once did, and I've been stuck with this crappy new 'half-op' status rather than full op in #demogame (which, btw, isn't very reliable when it comes to auto-voicing newcomers).

It's a tough trade-off. When I've been on this new server as long as I've been on the old, I think I'll have learned to like it.

I would like to point out that yesterday, there was a 16 person net-split. Stuff like that never happened before.

So far I prefer the old one more too--I knew how to use it, it was faster, and I could actually chat with it.

What happened to asking me for my password when typing "Hygro" as my first line?

You know, this thread almost reminds me of The Exodus. Thunderfall is leading us out of the land of netsplits and server crashes.

Hey there guys.

I'm an admin at the new IRC network you have chosen. We've been experiencing admittingly troublesome difficulties with a key server! Don't despair, the network should always be reachable using either the random irc.irc-chat.net address or a regional address as us.irc-chat.net, eu.irc-chat.net and as.irc-chat.net.

If worst comes to the worst, just connect to rollergirl.sg.as.irc-chat.net.. That's the most stable server we have through the past year!

We're really sorry for the problems which have occured, but I can assure you we're doing all we can to make it better for the user, including looking for a replacement to our American hub.

I know Thunderfall has said he appreciates the amount of help you guys have given so far. I know I appreciate it, on the occasions I have gone to #HELP.

Using DSP2, it said my host had too many connections and I was "throttled" (whatever that means there). Then, the server was full.
