New Civ look Poland

Trajan and Theodore Roosevelt are amazing. I am playing as Poland on Prince instead of King and I'm facing constant aggression everywhere. Not surprised ahahah.

Why people nitpick about the gender of the leader? Political correctness or not, it's a fact that history favored men, thus it's natural that they had more accomplishments. On the other hand, it's not right to downplay women saying that they were chosen by Firaxis only because they were women.

I'd rather see a constructive criticism about how to play Poland. What are their strengths and weaknesses? How to best play them? How their bonuses mix and favor them? How to counter them?

Really, how come we're discussing gender instead of strategy about a, well, dunno, a strategy game?

Please educate yourself. I'm Polish so I'm gonna educate you: She strenghtened the nation through marriage with Jagiełło, promoted science, culture and economic developement. She's even on our currency. So please educate yourself. She's a great choice because she was so versatile, almost as much as Casimir the Great
Cos she was a woman. That's enough for a lot of morons to be against her.
She's a woman so any criticism against her is instantly met with morons shouting "SEXISM!"

About educating yourselves. Jadwiga's greatest achievement as a ruler of Poland, because I don't doubt she was a wonderful human being, loved by the people and all this saint stuff, was marrying Jagiełło. This decision was not hers, as she was 12 years old by then, and she was very upset with it, there is a legend that she tried to hack through the door of her chamber with an axe to run away from the court, in fact Jadwiga's dress in the game resembles the outfit from a painting depicting this event:
20110825511-Dymitr_z_Goraja_wstrzymujacy_Jadwige_od_wylamania_drzwi_na_zamku_krolewskim_w_Krakowie,_autor:_Jan_Matejko.jpg

She became a king of Poland when she was 10, married Jagiełło when she was 12, being so young she didn't have a say and the nobility was managing the country, and while after the marriage the Poland was technically a diarchy until she died, there is nothing that suggests she had any more power than a modern first lady.

This x-mas dlc is very disappointing. I say, there is already Russia and Germany in game, who needs another civ from this cultural area (except the polish civ gamers of course) - nobody.
I also miss the extraordinary impact to the world history by the polish history (except the battle of Vienna) that they were preferred now.
I can´t understand, why great civs with immense impact to the world history (Mongolia, Ottomans, Portugal, Babylon, Persia, Assyria, Carthage, Celts, Huns, Crete...) and civs to fill gaps and providing more diversity (Zulu, Maya, Inca, Vietnam, Korea, Native American...) everyone is waiting for, have to wait? A polish Civ with winged hussars is cool for number 30 or 40 or so, but not as x-mas holiday first dlc!

And then the culture bomb thing for Poland - are they seriously know what they are doing. Is Poland really famous for their castles and grabbing land from their neighbors - was it not the other way around!

Who is responsible for this underground decision? I just can not explain why they wanna let me play not there game in my holidays.

Any ideas how to best play Poland? I'm not sure if I'm playing correctly. My culture bomb didn't seem to work, but maybe cause there was no opponent next to my encampment? Seems very situational to me. Not a worthy feature. Other than more faith, do they bring anything unique to the table?

There are some earlier strategy posts in this thread. Culture bomb only capture within your normal 3-tile radius, except for completed districts and wonders.

The strongest thing they can do is found a religion with Crusade (+10 strength near enemy with your religion), forward-settle a city at minimum distance, build an encampment that culture bombs tiles right up against the enemy city, and then send in the Hussars, financed by their Market UB.

I've already played two top multiplayer players who consider this OP, so we banned Poland, sadly. I like how controllable the timing is on the encampments (just switch to building something else), and that even if no one is near you in the early game you can use it to claim 200 gold worth of tiles.

She lived to about age 25 or so (she died shortly after giving birth to a daughter, who also died).

They made Germany's soldiers tired from running through the country so fast, delaying the assault on France for several months while they caught their breath.

Just want to be sure. It the Polish scenario available in multiplayer? Can you only play it with two other friends or is it possible to play as the Ottomans or the Order?

You can also conquer a city from an enemy, and after a peace deal (because of a surprise war or amenities problems) still grab their land. It should work with forts too, but people say it's bugged.

The voice of Jadwiga is pretty funny. Well, voice acting is pretty low quality, artificial, but that was pretty predictable, like most Polish dubbings.

That is what I suspected.

Jadwiga in real life more likely had a higher-pitched voice (by a few semitones on average) than what is provided in-game.

Can someone please help me answer this pretty simple question? Thanks in advance.

This is certainly not meant to knit-pick, but merely an observation about Jadwiga's dress. The eagle on her dress is facing right (east). I have never seen Poland's eagle facing to the right (east). In all its representations that I have seen (dating back to the 1200's), the eagle's head is facing left (west).

Anyone find Jadwiga's Civ character too similar to Spain's Civ V Isabella? Young, decorous and pious queen #2?

Young, decourous and pious queen? Like half of medieval europe?

Well, with Brazil and Germany in game, Firaxis continues to fill meh countries with decent player-base.
Leader could be made a bit better (this eagle is rather huge mistake), the dress could be more pleasant if sleeves' colours were mixed like on painting?
Leader-choice? She was canonized by polish Pope, had never any real power, was not even polish... I even asked several people to guess who is gonna be polish leader in civ6, I don't think she ever came up before ~15 guess. Still I think she is a valid choice (obviously not the best), and having valid female option is kind good for civilization.
Abiities! Yay, Golden Liberty! Just like I wanted, but obviously name has nothing in common with ability itself? Or maybe people from surrounding terrain are joining Poland, because of its freedom? We shall never know. Rest uniques is not worthy mention, meh.

Anyway, solid 1/5 points (2/5 if AI is aware how to use Culture Bombs).
