Wait! You all miss the greatest nation of all, the Tibetians. The4y existed for 7 years. Although they were a backward people, they had a great culture and would be independent now if it wasn't for the UN ignored El Salvador's request to intervene in the Chinese invasion of Tibet.

Where is the Portuguese in Civ 3? They were the ones who found Brazil, Which has Rio De Ja! and Sao Paulo!

Exactly my point! Where are we?!?

Portuguese had one of the biggest empires of all times, based on peace and commerce. Is that the problem (peacefull)? :crazyeye:

I went for Incas and Mali (other). I added Netherlands and Portugal because during the industrial revolution, these countries were expansionist/colonizing. Not sure what UU's they would have, though.

In what is today Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovaquia, Slovenia,...
It was divided in several countries in 1919 and the frontiers in that region were all rearranged on that occasion...

The Habsburg crown (which went through many incarnations, up until its final one in the Austro-Hungarian Empire) is represented in Civ2 by Spain. Sort of. It's not represented in Civ3, though.

I would love to see the vikings! With their history of exploration and Nautical prowess, i would love to see them included in the game.

They are in the PTW expansion pack

17. The Armenians - 13 - 1.61%

I have been really surprized by the success of the Incas. They were a decent civilization, but not outstanding. I think it must be because they are the greatest native civilization of South America. That continent badly needs representation. The World-Map need does seems to be a factor given the success of the Inca, the Polynesians, the Black Africa option and the Aborigines. But the Maya are joint 2nd, and they don't satisfy any World Map need. Perhaps iMeso-American and Andean cultures are just very popular.

The Hittites are doing much worse than I expected, given their popularity and their "invention" of iron. But the Armenians and Khmer haven't surprized. Unlike the Dutch or the Scots, very few CivFanatics will come from those countries and those civs haven't attained any high level of popular recognition

Having been exposed to the Australian Aboriginal culture recently, my vote goes for them. They lived in harmony in their environment for over 30000 years more than any other known civ (by me that is) until the European settlers nearly wiped them out.

I'd go definitely for the DUTCH, not the Netherlanders, or something like that. They were great seafaring people in the late-middle ages. Should have a ship as a special unit, with loads of transport, and attack capability. Everybody vote for the Dutch!

Netherlanders seemed an easier way to include the Flemings since, in English, it is a less particular word.

How about not adding any more civs, and instead concentrating on making each civ feel more distinctive? Each civ could have more detailed leader interaction, with a great variety of different city styles, and workers/settlers and perhaps other units for each civ could look different (although not necessarily function any different). City improvement icons for each different civilization could also be different and so forth.

Some variations of civ, such as CTP, have thrown in an insane number of civilizations, but all the civs feel so similiar that who even cares which one you pick? They're all the same anyhow! The more civs that are added, the more work that has to be done to make them distinct. I'd prefer fewer more distinct civs than a whole heap of homogenous civs.

I think the Incan and the Mayan... Of what I've learned the Incan empire was better than the Aztec and the Mayan was the only one out of the two who did get conquered by Spain :)

The Aztecs and the Incas were both conquered by Spain. The only reason the Mayans weren't conquered by Spain is the Mayan civ was out of business in the early 1500s.

I'M SURPRISED that so many have voted for the Poles. What have they ever done? The Aborigines and the Armenians have done so much more. :goodjob:

:hmm: must... resist... the.. pointy... stick...
Aside from the fact that the Civ3 moderator is part Polish, that does come across as a slight troll. Don't revive a topic just to troll.

What about the Philistines/Palestinians/Sea Peoples. They were ferocious peoples of the ancient ages. They should be in the next game....maybe.
