New computer specs

I've got vanilla Civ4, Warlords and Beyond the Sword installed in Program Files (x86)/Firaxis Games/Sid Meier's Civilization 4. Both the Vanilla and Warlords programs are running but not Beyond the Sword. All I get is a screen "flash" and then a small window pops up asking if Civ4BeyondSword.exe can make changes to the computer. I answer, "Yes." Then, another small window pops up and says there has been a color scheme change to Windows 7 Basic (I am running Windows 7 Professional). A final window pops up and leaves quickly saying something about the colors will revert when the program ends. However, that's all that happens.

I have tried running as administrator and running in XP mode, but neither has worked.

Do you guys have any idea what I am doing wrong?

Thanks for the link, MrAzure. I read through nearly half of the thread there and haven't found anything yet that helps although I'll continue later today. Most of the complaints in that thread concern using mulitple displays and updating grapics cards. I'm only using one graphics card and its brand new.

It seems odd to me that Warlords will run but not BTS. I am so bummed because CTC is really why I bought a new computer.

You need to right click on the Civ IV BtS application/exe file and "Run as Administrator." try that.

Thanks. I tried running as administrator as well as marking it to 'always' run as administrator. I also tried running in XP mode. None of those has worked.

Thanks -- yes, I downloaded and installed the patch even before I tried to start BTS.

OK i just had trouble with Civ VI also, here is what i just did this morning.

I UNinstall ALL civ IV and BTs.

Restart your PC

Then REinstalled Civ IV, it should say somehting about compatibility, just click RUN GAME ANYPLACE.

Then Run a "play now" game, dont play, just get to the start screen and then go to desktop.

Re-install BtS, and again do a play now game, then change the Audio and Graphics to your selecting. Then apply the patch after this.

See if this works

I reinstalled the game and finally got things going. I've been playing for a couple of days or so and got this error tonight. I am really puzzled about what it means. Is it saying I don't have enough memory?
