New Forum Game: History Rewritten Development Thread

No need to add stuff. I know i isn't realistic but its also unrealistic that other IOTs have all world governments collapsing. Its not an interactive history book, the players shape the world.

Does it really matter if they're NPC's in Asia or not? It's already going to be an alternate timeline. Why not make it more so?

If we're going with no NPCs at all, Omega, just use your imagination.

Alright then. But then you must explain why there isn't any NPCs at all!

If we make an NPC anywhere there "Should be" one historically we'd have all but a prefabricated states map. I'd rather not do that. Ilduce349 was just picking the most popular ones.

I suggest none though. Just start fresh with no NPCs. I think 600AD is perfect, 500AD Byzantium ruled the world, 600AD it makes sense to make the map blank (I know it doesn't make "Perfect" sense but its pretty close. Most modern powers (Except the US) arose in the middle ages. Its good this way.

I knew they weren't, but I was commenting on how their decline HAD BEGUN as their height was during Justinian. I definitely didn't realize that they had so much land. I say just ignore it though and darn historical accuracy, if someone (Mathalamus???) wants to start as Byzantium, they may.

Historical accuracy be damned.

I think ilduce wanted some, but if you wanted to do that too much land would be full of NPCs.

That was my point.

I think what he really wants is for it to be realistic. I like that idea, but propose the world start empty (Except Ilduce's nation of course.)

If you're going to make a different timeline, can you make a good one, not one that you just pulled out of nowhere?

Although I wouldn't consider it necessary, I think I have one.

Constantine Never divided Rome. Then, both sides fell (Which would have certainly happened in that case.)

As for Persia, they were almost dead in 600AD anyway, Arabia was about to kill them, so as they wouldn't even last one turn I say don't worry about them just don't include them.

They wouldn't have fallen if the Arabs never united. But your right, we just need to think of a story to explain how one empire collapsed. Not to necessary.

I want to make another suggestion, and volunteer to do the job (Since according to you you suck at writing.)

At the end of each turn, a short, interesting story would be written summing up all the events that happened that day in an interesting way. This would have no tangible affect on the game, just for role-playing and to detail all the events so that people don't have to read through the spam if they'd rather not. And, for entertainment.

I'll volunteer to do this job.

What's the point of this game BTW? There are many games doing exactly this already in existence.
