any one noticed that in the updated version of conquest there seems to be a problem with the science screen when your in modern age?

I do have an issue regarding to the explanation, sometimes the Integrated Defense description pops up when selecting something else, but I have the Spanish version so...

I've never noticed anything...not that I get to the Modern Ages most of the time...what are you referring to?

And I also agree with attacking America, although I recommend we get our iron hooked up first (just realized we had some). I don't believe America has any.

With RoPs and galleys coming up, we can send a warrior over to both landmasses to scout the terrain.

I agree, and it looks like there's some room on India's continent. They haven't settled much north, or so it seems.

i did good, even if i do say so myself :D

preturn - lower sci to 70% (same time, less cost). change most unit builds to Barracks. we really dont want any regular troops out there, do we? start a few prebuilds for galleys/harbours.

1- Nottingham cat > settler, build Oxford > worker, build Liverpool > worker.

2- London Barracks > settler, meet Germany on farland. they have HBR & POLY to our WRI & MATH. can deal, but too expensive, wait and see if they are alone.

3- Map Making in > Lit in 6 @ 60% & -4gpt. UP LUX to 10% due to unhappiness.
meet Russia on german land. knew it :) they have HBR we have MATH, PHI, CoL. no deals yet.
Coventry Archer > Settler.

4- York barracks > Pyramid prebuild (im certain they will get it before us, but i really want Suntzu's or Leo's (if we want military) or SISTINE (for that culture)
meet China on german land too. :dance: i see lots of wars over there...
i do some trading
china give HBR + 50g for PHILO, germany gives POLY + 18g for MATH.

5- London settler > settler, Coventry changed to Harbour

6- meet Ottomans on that glorious island. they have nothing for us. Nottingham settler > barracks

7- build Dover > galley.

8- Canterbury settler > catapult, Warwick cat > barracks, build Brighton > cat.

9- IRON is hooked up.
LITERATURE is in. CURRENCY in 8 @ 60% -2gpt.
London settler > settler, Hastings barracks > sword, Newcastle barracks > sword, Liverpool worker > granary (it has lots of food, lets use it for a worker pump)

10- York changed to GLib (in 35) due to chinese pyramids getting in.
some late trading gets us CURRENCY from india for HBR & POLY.

WE ARE FIRST INTO THE MIDDLE AGES :dance: :dance:

summary
we need more workers ASAP. too few of them. we need 1.5 wokers per city. i would prefer 2.

why wasnt the IRON hooked up when we got it?

i have a curragh waiting in Coventry for upgrade (harbour on 1)

i started a run for FEUDALISM (so we can change our prebuild in 15 to suntzu's and later LEO's)

we should keep LONDON as a settler pump, using some to drop on INDIA. these would act as our bridgeheads. first one should be on INDIA near that IRON!!!
barracks towns should work on swords.
for our SoD i would go for the classic (3-2-5) (catapult-spear-sword) ratio. i think about 25-30 units should be enough for America.
 
Uh...I downloaded the save to look at it, and we are still researching currency...6 turns left @ -3 gpt...did you upload the wrong save? It could also be just a save from earlier in the turn. The final trade for Currency you made is available.

I did notice that settler on the tip of land north of the iron. If we rushed the galley in Canterbury, it could be there in two turns.
 
i might have posted the wrong save :confused:
but it doesnt really matter.
i saved at last stage and then tried some last minute trading, which i did.
just trade with india ;) (HBR+POLY for thier currency)

which wonder are we going for? or more precisely, which kind of victory?
culture - i think we might squeeze it in, but not likely as 100k is too late, and 20k is just barely possible.
space - we are the current trech leaders, even with my miss-posted save. i think it is more than possible.
conquest-domination - we have a leos prebuild, which i fear we will have to slow down quite a bit (15 turns feudalism, atleast 35-40 to get upto leos). once we get feudalism we can see just how much it needs slowing down. we sure DONT need Suntzu's - as we havent got a large enough land mass to justify the free barracks (we will gain 6-10 barracks... not worth it IMHO)

so i vote for a space run.
what are the wonders we need for a space run?

on our subject
we should aim for a bigger empire - around 30 cities. to get that we will have to take out america and some nice chunk out of the india continent, but not much more than that.
as we need techs, lets start building a few libraries asap, and prebuild for UNIVERSITIES.
our imediate goal should be toward that, so scratch the Feud run, and go MONOTHEISM and THEOLOGY so we get SISTINE CHAPEL.
after that head straight for EDUCATION and prebuild UNI's.

Sounds good. I usually go for Domination, so I've only one 1 Space Race, and that was back on Warlord or Regent, in Vanilla Civ, I believe.

However, Domination is still very possible, I'd say, in the event that Space Race does not work out. America will be easy to take out, and as long as we can get a city on the Indian/French continent, they shouldn't be too much trouble with our tech lead. As for the other continent, I see a lot of wars between them in their future. ;)

Oh, and about Embassies. When does everyone usually build them? Or do you just wait for the AI to build one for you? I tend to build them as soon as I have enough money, since I like to know who's at war with who, but since we were on separate continents mostly, I didn't feel much of a need when we first got writing. Now that we discovered the other continent with 3 civs, it may be good to know who's fighting who, though.
 
about the Embasseies, i agree whole heartedly. we want them set up, but nothing urgent - as they wont be troubling us in the near future.
about the Dom-Conq win, i dont see why we cantt persue both goals.

a tactic you say? how about this?
stage one - we take out America, while keeping the Indians happy. meanwhile we build Embassies on all of India land.
meanwhile the homeland is producing 1/2 units and 1/2 infrastructure. focousing on SCIENCE and commerce. prebuild as much as possible (colloseum > university, etc)

stage two - we see who is weakest and who is strongest on India. i guess it will be the indians. we go for the weakest, or get the others against india. but remmember that india has WAR ELEPHANTS coming in VERY VERY SOON, and they need NO RESOURSES to build :eek: so i say keep india for last on thier land.
how to take all that land? pump the land with settlers. take out the vital resources and protect those at all costs. we want to control that islands IRON and SALTPETER.
we establish a big beach head on the north of the indian land and produce nothing but units there. rush a few temple-libraries for flipping and happiness.

stage three - take out another india civ (now late MA).
should be easy, we can even use india as an ally till we take those out. we also keep india happy with us. and if they declare? they are closer :evil:

stage four - take india (early IA)
by this stage we should have a solid base on the home front for space builds and/or war production.

just remember - we want short, quick wars, as we are a republic, and can use the cash for better uses than hiring clowns. so no declaring unless absolutely nessesary, and we mak ebloody sure we have a good strong army.
i say we even dedicate a few cities for barrack work.
 
i dont mind heading for a domination victory. but i would prefer to go for a space race victory. Im a freindly person (even though i want to invade america) so i don not mind heading for either victory. so i propose this to the leaders of the Empire

I say we go for domination. If that fails, space race shouldn't be hard to achieve, as we SHOULD have the tech lead and resources

And I agree with Evincar. Follow Domination, with Space Race as a backup.
 
i guess we are going for domination then.
lets hope Penwa went for Feudalism and LEO's path then, otherwise we need a new prebuild as i dont think we can (or want to stretch that build for too long)

i just had a history essay to do, and it was very time consuming. but imm back i have seen the light and played the game. the roster is at the begining of the forum with aload of other junk thats a fun read.

so 2 votes for space and 2 domination
so yeah it must be domination with space parts taking president over war effort, in future, if enemy building good amount of space parts.

well any way heres my history of the past 10 years

550- Nothing, just brought a new chair for the office (spilt coffe on it in about 5 mins)

530-first landing on another continent with settler and spearman. the english flag flys high over the ground

510-my fellow freinds tell me that they have set up a few small towns that they named leeds and norwhich set up on other islands. they have since been added to the map

490-tried to clean my cofee stain on chair

450-science was taking a fair bit of time and was draining money, with some management over time it was built up and income over +8per turn and science looking good.

430-harbours being built along with marketplace to let the peasants flock to us.

????-got confused with dates and the calendar system seems nath, our fellow people await jesus so that we can count up and not down- (really i cant remember the dates.)

370 i think- birmingham founded, drunken riots followed.

350- i give up on my chair stain and leave my chair there in the office (someone try to get rid of that stain) our scientists or are they mad men in this day and age? any ways say that feudalism should be done in 2 turns.

peace by with ye, thats my election promise. trying to maintain diplomatic relations with the other nations of our planet.
i mended some broken bridges with the east, please dont annoy them with our boats.
