New Game Options: Leaderhead Levelups and No Positive Traits on Game Start

They won't have a negative (nor will you) until 2nd lvl, then another at 5th and so on at a rate of 1 per 3 lvls. They can also be removing them as a positive selection that comes thereafter so the mouseover alone is not enough to determine it. However, if it seems truly off then it could be an error in the ai processing which was just tweaked a lot. I can review it and see if I can see something is wrong with the setup.

I am aware of that. In my game, all the other AIs have three positives and no negatives, which should not be possible at Leadership level 3.
 
ok... then there's probably a bug in the processing in their AI that makes all evaluate to a non-selection (which is just wrong obviously) and I'll get on fixing that right away! Thanks for the feedback there HRL! You've been intensely helpful with this project :D
 
Ok. I believe I have a fix for that issue now but I need a night to test it to make sure. At least there was a noticable serious logic flaw in the calculations that makes sense that you'd be experiencing what you reported hotrod! Provided that's the only issue there, which I believe it will prove to be, then a repair on the SVN is imminent.

We appreciate criticism, so long as it is respectful and constructive, as opposed to just trolling. Yours is always the former, which is good. :)

I should have an update for that fix on the SVN by the end of the evening. Hopefully it will be there in time for ya! And thanks again for spotting that problem for me!
 
I like the system, but once you get to that last round of selections some of the positive traits have too many negatives. i didnt feel very rewarded. I tweaked a minor boost out of it, but seemed to be choosing between the least negative positive traits.

Going to try next game with pure traits on, that might be better until this gets a balance pass on it.
 
@teakbois: SGT Slick is our trait designer and is looking for any direct feedback on his traits you can offer in the Extra Traits for C2C thread.

But yeah, we have a lot more in store for this that will eventually mean you won't be required to continue to diversify your trait portfolio but rather be able to improve the traits you have by taking more advanced versions of them. I'm really hoping this can be completed before the next release.
 
The first trait you get is a positive trait, then you get another positive trait at the same time as a negative trait. This pattern continues, though it takes a good while to get the third trait, and longer still to get to the fourth trait (and second negative). You may also use the trait level up to remove a negative, rather than taking a positive.
 
First trait you will receive when your cultural level reach 1000 points or 100 I don't remember exactly
 
When you use the Option "Start withOUT Positive Traits" how long before you can actually start getting new traits, and also positive ones??
The answers above are close but to clarify:

If using both Developing Leaders and Start without Positive Traits, you actually start with NO traits. If you play with JUST Start without Positive Traits you don't ever gain any but you are just stuck with the one Negative trait that's default for that leader. This is so that if you want to play without Leader traits at all, you can play with No Negative Traits AND Start without Positive Traits.

I realize most won't want to play like this BUT we have the Cultural Heritage project where some have voiced a desire to want to have NO leader traits - only Cultural traits and this enables such a game once that project is up and running.

Presuming you are playing with Developing Leaders and Start without Positive Traits, you gain your first positive trait selection at 10 National Culture. Then the next at 100, and there you gain a Negative Trait after choosing your Positive one. From there, its 1000 to the next positive, 10,000 to the next positive and 100,000 to the next where you also pick up a negative. THAT pattern repeats and a positive selection can be used to eliminate a negative. I may end up changing this so that the negatives come at a full 2 to 1 selection ratio but for now they are actually at a 3 to 1 ratio but the first negative selection starts at the second positive.

Also note that GAMESPEED modifies the above amounts by a flat % adjustment. You can see how much National Culture you need to the next level on your flag hover help popup.

Let me guess... you didn't select Developing Leaders, only Start with No Positive Traits?
 
This is what i have (see attached). OK then if i "start" with NO positive traits, and cant get any back because of the option i have, why does it say "START WITH" i take that as i will get some later??
 
If you don't have Developing Leaders on but you do have No Positive Traits on Gamestart, you won't get any more later and you're pretty much just without any positive traits for the whole of the game. But if I say "No Positive Traits" alone, then it tends to indicate just as confusingly that even if you HAVE developing leaders on, you won't ever gain any positive traits, which is exactly what No Negative traits does mean - that once No Negative traits is On, with or without Developing Leaders you will NEVER have any Negative traits in play.
 
I just had something very bizarre happen in my last game, while playing with this option. I got enough culture to reach leadership level 5 (I believe it was 5, at least. At this point my traits were Scientific, Creative, Agricultural, Expansive, Megalomaniac, and Anti-Clerical). It shot me straight up to Leadership level 9, allowing me to take four more positive traits and a negative one (I took Aggressive, Protective, Imperialistic, Idealistic, then got rid of Idealistic). The save is included below.

this selection is horribly op if you focus on certain aspect, like science , oh boy, started on immortal,at very early ancient era switched to deity , still ai didn't catch up in slightest, i am so far ahead even after taking every religion and random techs ( well religion helps a ton for science.. so not really useless ) and giving away techs when ai ask I am still miles and miles away
