New GMR hotseat game, regular players please

my point was that America could probably do w/o the Great wall ... <sheesh>

In game? That's the India/Ottoman attempted GW.

Anyway, back to game:
Oh, man, the Roman forces seems to be endless, now they are back to military No. 1 again.

indeed -- sorry, mixed up the civs, apparently too many GMR game discussions for me to keep them all straight all the time :)

my impression from the india/ottoman quarter is that they have some nice defensive terrain between each other (and maybe between them and us?)

Ceasar is puzzled by our military #1 -- there has been, if anything, a slight drop in our forces ... perhaps this is more an indication of changes in the russian military? what could be happening on the other side of the continent?

Alright im back from vacation. If you want to keep playing this one Mel, I say go for it. Or I can take over again. Also thank you very much.

This is perfect! I'm just about to go on vacation myself and was worried about how I was going to handle things for you. I'll sub you back in right away :)

Well hi there America! We must all be on the same "continent" then if you can reach me. I will have plenty of spare luxuries to trade if you wish to expand a bit. I am willing and capable of investing in an ally on the other continent :)

Were you saving money for defense against your neighbor? If it matters to you I am on the other continent. Its a fairly long trip to reach you and I still havent found the Ottomans.

Sorry about that! I was saving up for a settler. After that, my money will be free to work with! :)

Siamese warriors and riders traded 2 Roman units+1 wounded retreat for the price of a horseman, probably we will get free kill of a legion next turn

While our military is growing bigger when dealing with the Roman aggression, it is never our intention to threat the world peace and security. Our only plan is to make our empire secure by extending its border to the southern east sea. After that we wish no further conflict with other nations, except perhaps some routine training exercise on the warring City States.

India we have sent you a new offer to aid you in settling a new city. We hope you find it agreeable.

Why thank you! I only needed 8 more gold... :mischief:

I hope you enjoy your purchase. Sadly I cannot offer you a full refund of the purchase price if you are unsatisfied with your product. But I can offer you a discount on purchases of fine domesticated horses in the near future! :)

Oops, I was thinking standard speed. Its still a worthwhile trade.

Yes, I would have thought you should give me more money if it were standard, actually. But I suppose if you were doing it upfront, a discount is appropriate.

It looks like a Pangea map instead of continent? It may also be the extra sight of Americans to allow them see beyond the water. Siamese scout has not yet learnt the swimming skill. Could Indian and/or Ottoman cartographers describe the sweet spot to stand in order to make contact and establish trade relationship? Perhaps a small piece of map showing the land feature? Siamese tradesmen have enough lux supplies to make both nations happy and prosper.

There is a seperate continent. America hasnt found any southern shipping lanes so you will have to establish open border treaties with Arabia I would imagine. Plus maintaining ours. I am unsure if there is a northern passage around our landmass so maybe you will have to discover a way to cross the deeper waters.

Well, it's more convenient for Indians and Ottoman to send a trireme or workboat to a specified rendezvous point. Siamese will give very steep dicount (2 lux for 1 lux+small gold, or similar) for constructing the boat.

If our historical documents are correct, American ships have indeed reached our ports. It appears as though they came from the West. Sadly, the Indians are unable to send convoys your way at this time. Ottoman expeditions are welcome to use our harbors for a western journey, however.

Ceasar has authorized Roman representatives to offer our surrender to the Siamese armies. The nightmare he hoped to avoid has come to pass regardless, and we cannot hope to resist the elephant cavalry closing on Rome. We have offered Siam the little we still possess and await its response.

Siamese researchers found a better way. Siamese traders wish to buy a piece of map showing the water leading to the Indian continent. Will a lux enough for the trouble of making this map and PMing to RKH mailbox?

If there had been 2-3 ballistas with the initial push, the outcome will be drastically different. RKH wishes no more or less than the South East of this continent, and Rome will certainly be part of it.

Having been playing a few games with you, and I shared border with you in many games as well. I wonder if you could try to

1. neglect all early wonders and early shine, and
2. build nothing more than a monument, 1-2 scouts, followed by a granary to grow your capital to pop 6 before making or settling the 2nd settler.
3. Always lock down all food tiles and put cities in production focus whenever the empire is happy.

But you may not want to have new game now, so try step 3 in the rest of the games to see how things turn out.

true enough ... there was a moment that I wasn't able to adequately prepare for :( once that passed, the war was lost for me no matter what ...

Fair enough, was worth a try ... you know where to find it ;)
