8 new screenshots! Check 'em out! Includes parts of the tech-three, and messeges poping up when founding a new religion! Looks really cool! There are also an image showing lots of the different resources! :goodjob: :king:

Posted on Micaelis Rex' screenie page! I love that man! :D

Those are the oldest screenshots taken and appeared a long time ago on these forums...

Look at the ones marked "new", they are not older then a day! :)

M Rex have also mentioned it in his tread here, but I was so exited when I first saw them, so I had to make this thread! ;)

Ah yes, I overlooked those :)

looking good although I'm not 100% certain on the terrain graphics.... I dunno.... they just seem..... not right.

I know it won't be but I really liked the supposed art work for the box.

The commands remind mee sssoooo much of RoN

At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if stacks were given the option to organize their formation for 'tactical advantages'. (Is that a feature?) But, then, again the military ascept isn’t that complicated, so it kind of looks cool!

Great pictures, plus the picture with religion and China seriously eased the pain of what religion would be like.

Yeah! But I don't like that polyteism leads to Monotheism, I hope it will not turn out to be the same Civ rerearching and founding all religions all the time! :)

What happens if you don't WANT a state religion??

I guess you can disregard the religions, like when a government is discovered in CIV2/CIV3, etc.

I will be aiming for atheism, of course!

:)

If a government refuses the religion, then they would just not receive its corresponding benefit as a result. Not much else. However, it would be kind of werid to give benefits for not having a religion...because that annules the concept of benefits for religions.

Just a thought.

Your people will concentrate on working for your empire rather than a god. It should give some benefits other than those with a religion.

Kinda like communism, wich take a clearly atheistic stance. "Religion is the opium of the people" ;)

Well, I suspect it will be possible to add extra religions even if we can't change the underlying mechanics. So you could always tie an Atheism 'religion' to a tech like Darwinism. I'm not sure that wide-spread, intellectually solid atheism was really possible before the advent of semi-modern science... we just didn't know enough about the world. I certainly would have fun creating late game atheist empires. :D

I suspect that if you don't have one of the 'major' religions then your religion is something like 'Paganism'. Much like no government is 'Anarchy'.

I don't like the resources screen. I'm hoping they change the icons on them, they look to big and out of place.

Clipot, seriously. Do you honestly believe that civilization IV will be that PC that it will appeal to every single person on a moral level? If you look at the picture, it says that the religion only makes one person happy. (one!)- which, the cycnical even, could use to delude the masses. There you go.

Edit: I might add the concept of fighting for ones country as faith isn't exactly historically correct. :D Atleast not until the emergence of nationalism anyway.

In the screen with China and Hinduism, to the south-east of the city is what looks like a small horse pasture.

To me it looks like they enlarged the resources so you could see the number of resources, not what they look like.
Overall, these are good screenshots. :goodjob:

In some images, cattle (sheep?) or horses are free (Egypt.jpg), then in others they are fenced in (BorderandJapan.jpg). I like this approach to showing the gathering of resources. the ability probably comes with the tech agriculture.

I hope they don't add techs like hunting, fishing and agriculture as they make little sense. Agriculture is a prerequisite to civilization. So if this is a game about civilization, then agriculture should have been discovered. Hunting, is millions of years old so this makes even less sense as a "tech".

I am guessing that they will make hunting enable the cattle resource perhaps, and fishing would enable the fish resources and so forth.
