New Leader Hint! (Looks like Shaka)

I can't believe you guys are arguing over the meaning of "confirmed"... Without quoting Inigo Montoya.
Yes, they're being silly. Obviously it's not literally "confirmed," but unless Firaxis are deliberately misleading us with that image (which must be viewed as unlikely, since they've never done it before), it's clearly Shaka. The details do not fit any other explanation unless you deliberately choose to ignore them.

I'm sorry, I was joking in my last post. I accidentally used the wrong wonder, and was trying to pretend like I wasnt. Sadly the internet has no good substitution for tone and inflection. I didnt mean to mock you, just sheepishly tried to play it off as if I knew what I was talking about. You had a discerning eye for being able to tell the difference in wonders.

I know my wonders... I'm just embarassed for not getting your sarcasm, but then again you can never tell on the Webs.

You're still thinking about that too? I am also. It would be hilarious if it was South Africa led by Shaka with Impi and Boers and a tourism bonus for camps and gold for mines as the UA.

That would be interesting. It would also give Chaka easier access to the new features of the game instead of making him another military-focused Civ.

I say it's a small chance, though, since I always figured if South Africa was in, Nelson Mandella would be the leader.

Never been a big Shaka fan, and don't think we need more early rushers. Anxiously waiting on the next reveal.

Who says the Impi aren't pikemen replacements? Or lancers? Or even musketmen? Who says they're even in the game?

I'm anxious to play as Chaka. The Zulu are interesting historically.

I would say there's exactly zero chance that Shaka will be made the leader of "South Africa". South Africa is the country that was created by the outsiders who conquered Shaka's people, replaced them as the rulers of the territory, and proceeded to subjugate his people. Sticking him in as their leader, instead of as the leader of the people he actually led, would be as nonsensical as making Powhatan the leader of the Americans.

That's flat out incorrect. Again, "confirmed" and "strongly hinted at" are not equivalent terms. Where I've been is not jumping to conclusions and insisting my suspicions based on hints are actual facts, that's where.

Darn it......again, I knew my sarcasm wouldn't be perceived correctly through the inturwebz....:hammer2:

"Confirmed"

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

I did it, Eagle Pursuit :D

You killed my suspense, prepare to die!

Saw this somewhere else, but the rather awkward quote "because of him, war" refers to a Zulu greeting, "Ngathi impi" which translates as "because of us, war." This should remove the .000001% doubt that it's Shaka

Nice find! That sounds like confirmation to me.

The man who ruled over the Zulus at this time of their greatest glories, who had led their growth from a small tribal clan into the dominant power on the coast of south-east Africa, was called Shaka.

Oooooh. That makes them real special in world history then.

Any guesses at the possible UA? Probably something warmongerish...

Definitely something warmongerish. I think it would most likely be somehow a reference to their military formation strategy and ability to surround enemies. A flanking bonus if they have adjacent troops would be fitting.

Maybe they'll try something really different and allow the Zulu to have more than one military unit per tile, but I think that would be too much of a departure from the core rules of the game.

I get this way with the Songhai and their empire that lasted "some 100 years"- oooooh that's so LONG. You know the civ you're playing is insignificant if the empire that destroyed it (Morocco) is not significant to get into the game.

I know this is going to shatter some people's worldviews. But there is not some set length of time a political entity has to exist, or some set amount of territory a culture has to spread across, before it becomes interesting. This game is about building an empire to stand the test of time. They never said anything about only celebrating those that already have.
