New Leader Hint! (Looks like Shaka)

Well. sales of PC are down over 13% last quarter, twice as much as analysts predicted. Let's say in 4 years, a tablet would have the memory and graphics power of today's PC and able to connect to a large monitor/keyboard/mouse. But everything will be sold through an app store, including in-game purchases. 50 million gamers on iPhone/iPad/Android do that now because it's simple, fast and very easy to maintain (compared to a PC).

Not really an indication of much. Just that less people are buying computers that don't need one. Why buy a netbook (still considered a PC) when a tablet does the same thing?

I just do not see tablets replacing a Gaming PC.

Also, why is this even being discussed in a thread about Shaka?

Perhaps more people are getting Macs (technically a PC, but the public consider PCs as those that run on Windows or Linux). I am happy with my MacBook Pro with Retina Display.

By the way, on my computer, Shaka's shadow looks very good (there, I brought it back on topic).

Yeah, I think too much about traditional PCs for gaming on how that has changed in the 30 years I've had one.

It is relevant when I believe the price of the base product will go down but there will be many more extra contents (DLCs, if you will) that will become available. Additional Civs, would be a perfect example. In other words, the price of an expansion would be $9.99 but it would not come with extra civs. They will be available for purchase for $2.99 each. While that's the model for tablet/phone gaming, it will be for PC/laptop gaming in the future (Civ6?).

I love that model because I can get to chose (hypothetically) not to have Zulus by not purchasing them. ;)

No wai... Shaka? Another surprise party? I only seen the freaking car sin the drive way and had everyone ask me if I liked surprises the day of.

And there he is... Shaka is in

I have to say, I'm surprised at the Zulu Civ icon, it's not really the same design/format of the other civ icons, taking up the whole circle and not one single set image but a zoomed in portion of the shield.

The incidental reveal of a World Congress mechanic is interesting... looks like somebody is handing out a bribe in return for votes.

I remember suggesting something like this for a revamped diplomatic system and diplomatic victory ages ago. Actually here's the thread. In anycase, it's great to see vote trading added, as well as more complicated resolutions and even deferential weighting, it seems they've actually fixed the diplomatic victory! I'd be excited to hear more about it in the coming weeks.

This - it's a rather unique icon, but I think it looks good.

The colors, however, are weird - brown on white?
I know some people complained about yellow, but just looking at Shaka's shield, the shield is clearly brown and not white (kinda light brownish, dark yellow color). Wouldn't this be better?

Take in mind the fact that Greece, Japan, and now Assyria and Portugal also have white backgrounds, The Ottomans are green on beige, and Carthage and The Huns have a light gray background.
Imagine a game with those civs, the mini map and end-game replay would be confusing as heck! White and withe-ish colors are probably the most used for background (and maybe even more so for foreground, but that's not much of a problem), I would prefer another color for them...

But don't mind me, just rambling about! :p

That's why I always mod my game to have every civ with a unique base color so they don't blend together on the map. It is getting harder to have a distinguishable color for each civ though with 43 civs now.

Also, forgot to mention before, it almost seems tri color?

Yes, the icon looks very odd... I don't think its tricolor...

So, going to shoot and incredibly unlikely speculation, which I don't even believe likely, and which would bring many problems and controversy and such, but will post it just for fun:

- Maybe Societies that didn't grow like European civilizations will now start differently with new village characteristics to better reflect their way of living in ancient and medieval times, and becoming later on renassaince like other civs, and as a way of showing that difference they have different icon-styles... After all, have we seen any non-orthodox civ in any demos yet?

Based on the picture of Shaka, it looks like civs can make trades to manipulate how they will vote at the world congress.

The world congress is supposed to keep runways in check, but it appears that a runaway would have the ability to sway the vote how they want. Its sort of like how America can usually put pressure on UN members to vote a certain way.

This should be interesting, and its definitely more dynamic than civ4 un. What if shaka takes the trade then vote s yes? Is that even an option to him, and if so what are the consequences with the other civ?

I suspect they'll bind the vote, but I could be wrong.

There's the white, the brown, and then the bottom right part of the squares, it looks like it's also a shade between the two.

I think that is a white border around the rectangles, and the reason it seems a different color is because, on the bottom right of them, they only have the thin border and goes back to brown again and, because of the resolution of the image and icon, anti-aliasing make the two colors blend.
You'll notice that doesn't happen with the rectangles on top - only those that are against the brown patch.
