New Leaderhead - King Atlas of Atlantis

That's great! I really can't wait till this is finished now!

I want to see some female leaderheads, i bet they won't look hafe as good

P.S. I want to make some heads, i'm sick of playing civilization 3! Teach me how! How do you make those flic files? IS there a certain size it has to be? what about the weird adivisor pic?

I hope you liked ancient preview.

Now we can go to Medieval Tmies. As I said before, in my opinion, that should be main era.
Preview and always the same question - What needs more work?

Two suggestions.

Change the statue, it's too blury

Make the crown reddish rather than blueish (so that it looks like its that metal, Charichalum I think)

I even dont' play civ3 :) To make Heads you have to have 3D program - I'm using 3DsMax (lot's of possibilities), but some or rather most, are using Poster - porgram only of human bodies (as far as I know). Then you have to save the animation (120 frames) as flc file with maximum 255 colors. The size of file doesn't matter, only size of each frame - it should be 200x240.
Advisors have a bit more different pallette - last colors are responsible of trsparency, so you should watch out where they are in a picture.

So Good luck;)

About the blue crown - I didn't want to give it gold, cause I didn't want to:) So I decided to give it blue. Look at this in that way - maybe they (Atlanteans) didn't have gold ore on thier Island:)
But offcourse, if there will be more vioces to change the crown - I'll change it

Orichalcum, ( my tranlsation ) is a mysterious red metal that was used to cover walls and such, by the atlaneans. I think it would be a very good idea if the crown had a reddish tint to it. kind of like a red brass maybe.

:edit: very interesting.........I thought I'd do a search for orichalcum. I rember not coming up with anything a few years ago when I was really into studying more, but this time I came up with this.........
Taken from Roman Engineers: Bronze, Brass and Orichalcum

An alloy of copper and zinc called orichalcum was used a great deal by the Romans. This consisted of eighty percent copper and twenty percent zinc, with small amounts of lead, tin, and other metals and would be called yellow brass today.

I don't know where the information about this specific alloy content was founded. It's the first I've heard of it. It is worth mentioning that I got the impresion that the ore/metal was lost with Atlantis
In any case, this is very interesting and I thought it worth sharing

Thats the stuff I meant, I'm surprised to see a mention outside of legend also:eek:

and on a completely unrelated note: this is my 50th post !!! :D

I didn't know that there's such kind of metal. But if it's true, than Atlas should have it:)

Yikes, that was fast. and it looks good. to be honest though.......I don't know about the tattoos though. Although they look good on your model, I don't really think that 'Atlas' should have tattoos. IMHO but it still looks very very good:)
I can't wait

Tattoos - Look good in ancient but for medieval and later I would remove them. :)

Crown - The new one is much better, also a good idea changing the beard thing too. :goodjob:

Beard thing - still blue in industrial, could it also be red Orichalcum ???

EDIT: By the way, your industrial is the best custom leaderhead ever!!! I love the monocle! :D

EDIT 2: A top hat would be good, but if you don't have the time the current animation is excellent.

I think the industrial looks perfect:goodjob: , just get another background.

I think the current background is excellent, it looks like the Atlanteans holding on to tradition even as technology increases - a great idea for the mythical civ.

EDIT: I just had another idea to late for the original post, happened alot tonight, perhaps make the monocle out of Orichalcum also!

I have finished background:)

I've changed monocle and that "beard thing" to Orichalcum. If there's something you don't like give me a sign.

About tatoos in middleages. Europeans came to America in XV century and that was the end of middleages, so I thought that Atlatean culture (Atlatean Island is between America and Europe in the scenario) should stay unchanged till discovery of New World, that's way Atlas has tatoos even in MiddleAges:)

I've been out of the loop for a while, so it was great to log on and see all the progress on this. On the orichalcum, the latest version of the scenario has quite a lot of it on the Atlantean continent, so this is a great addition. Love the industrial LH.

Piernik:

Keep up the good work. I intend to drop a patch on the scenario this weekend, so if you can this completed by then, it would be great. Thanks a lot for knocking this out.

I kind of liked the stone background myself. The Industial background reminds me of a house.

Maybe keep with the stone look but have cities or sky scrapers on the background island? Don't get me wrong I love the face and details, but the house look seem to take away some of the mysticism of the culture.

I agree with neorowan... Look at it this way... The Atlanteans are holding on to their cultural heritage and yet they're building early skyscrapers on the outskirts of the historical district.

Oh, I also think he'd look better without a hat in the industrial era... The tophat is overdone in my opinion.

And now I don't know what to say. As I looked in other civ3 LH - almost all have some kind of room as background in Industrial Times. I think that leaving the middleages background would be too old-fashioned. I mean - staying in the same point in a circle of Times, when whole world is going faster and faster forward (Industrial Revolution) is not the best idea. I like that background from middleages too, but Atlanteans should move forward too.

I don't know weather I've convinced you or not, but I think it's better way to present a "moving" civilization.

Waiting for oppinions
