New Mafia Hosting Queue

Nono, I was just thinking out loud...

When can I host?

Someday I should GM something... a Mafia game sounds simple enough...
If you want an idea, I have tons for minis. Small/Large queues are always backed up.
Hahahahah, simple. You dedicate several hours a day to this, as well as a crapton of time beforehand.

Simple? No. Here's what you do:

1. Ideas for the game. Don't forget you have to balance it out. I'd say with the waiting time since the list is backed up you should do this about 30 minutes a day, depends on the work you put in.
2. Role PM's: You've got to write out the PM's for every player, preferably before it starts.
EDIT: 3. Ah yes, the rules. You've got to explain it so everyone knows what is going on.
4. Write-ups: A half-way decent write-up takes an hour to write. And that's for a mini.
5. Tally: Unless you have a tally slave, there goes 15 minutes.
6. Questions: If someone doesn't understand something, that's 5 more minutes.
Finally:
7. Orders: Blah. These take about 5 minutes an order if you send a result PM, and then you have to do the write-up. It's a lot of work.

...And I probably forgot something. :p
All that work is why I never play any games while I'm hosting.

Lolwut, man, hope you don't have to write many essays. :p

Also, I don't count the time BEFORE the game starts.

And slow as molasses too. :p

They take less if you automatise them and keep a few text sheets with pre-formatted stuff for day/night updates, player lists, player deaths/lynches/WoGs/revivals, item votes and auctions, etc.

Let's just say English isn't my favorite subject.

Thanks, now I don't have to use an hour per update. :)

It depends on the type of game. For a relatively vanilla game, such as Zack Mafia, I only really have to spend about thirty minutes each day on it (I don't count reading and responding in the thread, because that's something a player also does). Of course, I write quickly.

@topsecret: You do, just not during the game. :p

Oh of course. But for non-vanilla games you have to keep track of players' stats and abilities and that's a pain.

I already know you're a lazy bum, I don't need reminding.

I'm lazier...

That's lame.

But far too lame to be worth doing even by a lazy bum like me.

Why do people whose name end in K happen to be so lazy?
