The He 111 was the primary bomber of the Luftwaffe throughout WWII.

It was also flown by Germany's allies, here: Romania.
By the way, this version is a complete re-make of a previous unit. (The Luftwaffe version is all new.)

Download it here.

Enjoy! :D

Nice additions! The 111 is one of my all-time favorites. :)

Two remarks:

1) The German Heinkel is very dark, almost black.
2) The palette for the fire may need some work, the colors look a little odd.

0. I like it. A lot. :) So by your choice, TopGun.

Cool! A while ago, one of these flew into our local airport and I got to walk (crouch) around inside it and play with the MG-34s... :D

Thanks for your feedback... I'll see what I can do to improve the flame palette. As far as the camo of the Luftwaffe version goes: I used the correct RGB values for RLM71 and RLM70, which are in fact very dark - at least before the sun weathers them. It was my decision to go with a "factory-new" look.

I'm glad you went with the official colors and the factory new look. When you look at photographs during the Battle of Britain you see that Heinkels are dark colored birds. I've also tested your unit in game and it looks great IMHO. I'll post a screenie later as I'm at work right now.

a comment by someone who obviously does not know the vintage and pedigree of Luftwaffe aircraft.

What the...? This comment is so ridiculous I don't even know what to say. One of us is a historian specialized in Industrial & Modern Age. It's not you. My comment was about the unit in the game, Mister. Oh, maybe I should have adressed you in the 3rd person as well. Sorry about that.

----

Thanks for revisiting the palette, TopGun. :)

Damn, I've been angry. Cooled off now a little. Sorry TG, don't want your thread to be a mess. Added a little picture why I made the remark of the unit being quite dark in the game.

Wyrm had this problem with his 1st Leopard 2 as well - using the correct colors, but the unit appeared nearly black in the game. After showing him a screenshot, he lightened the colors a little.

I misunderstood your tone in the original post. I wish you had said this in the beginning. Makes sense now and I'm sorry if I offended you. I take myself and my interest too seriously sometimes.

Oh and when it comes to history of the world wars I wonder, 'Wer ist die Beste, Sie oder mich?' ;)

Here's my screenshot. Everything seems fine to me. Like I said earlier, I like the color scheme and there seems to be no visible defects.

You're using the wrong 88mm. That's the old faulty one.

Thanks Wyrmshadow! I'll check the DB for a more recent one from you. I don't remember coming across a newer version of the 88 but then again I didn't go out of my way to look for one either. Thanks again.

Update, FYI: I've been playing around with the shadow and anti-alias slots in my palettes, and think I'll have an optimized palette that I'm happy with, soon.

Almost forgot to let y'all know that the Luftwaffe version is now uploaded with corrected palettes.
