I'm sorry about all the issues lately, as there's really been an excess of them. Between the Gamespy servers shutting down, and this season with unusually active thunderstorms, this is as annoying for me as it is for you players. Today was a power failure, probably because there's been a thunderstorm while I've been asleep.

I have a strange bug: my scout has xp for promotion but isn't able to promote. Any idea what is causing this and how it can be fixed? Does it require a replay?

Did he only get those XP this turn or has he had them for a while already?

Yes he got it this turn or more accurately during the last barbarian turn (barbs play between the turns).

The barb fight happened at the beginning of the turn.
You can't promote until a new turn.
(there is an edge case, but not relevant here).

Yeah as everyone, including barbs are essentially playing their turn at the same time, they move straight away at the start of the turn as opposed to after everyone has moved in turn based play.

I cannot see what I can have done to cause this. I thought it odd when CivStats showed me as as having finished my turn twice but still had Maya as unplayed.

Didn't notice it until lunchtime at work and I don't think I lost anything much more than a few research pts which doesn't break my heart at this early stage of the game.

Please let me know if there was something that I did that could have caused or prevented this as it might be problem if it happened again later in the game.

If you don't have research set you don't lose it, it goes into a tech of the computers choosing (I think the fastest tech you can research). So whilst you might not get to the tech you want as quick, you will not lose beakers as such.

Friendly Fire: You weren't the cause for the crash at all. In fact it was caused by an error in a completely different Pitboss. You were just the unfortunate person who had logged into this game last and as such needed to replay your turn.

I think it is worth mentioning, that the game auto-saves are made on the server when someone joins the game, and not when he exits the game.
