The so call Italian Army was principally a piamontese army. Ask the people from Sicily if they were italinas in 1848

I know that Sicily had not great italian ideals on 1848, but is right that Modena, Parma, Toscana and the Pope formally (and substantially) gived an hand to Sardinia kingdom: you must remember also massonic and carborar revolution on 1820-21 and 1830-31 on this states. I have yet said that this countries, after first entusiasms, decided to retire its troops because they are fear of Piemonte predominion, but history is history!

I prefer flags. One thing -- and please note I'm largely ignorant of the historical period you're dealing with -- why would the Papal state use the SPQR banner of old Rome? Didn't they have something like the Vatican flag?

Hmm... I would prefer coats of arms...I think they give a greater XIX feel than flags...

Uhm, on flagspot there is a flag 4 papal state and one 4 Vatican: I'll make Vatican with Peter's keys

Metacomet, this is the flag: bicolor one make keys too small and not visible. For courius, the arms is the Pius IX one. For now, I think that in the scenario I'll use arms, but insert also the flags

Green with green-black triangular border, with central eagle . Is pictured in The Enciclopaedya Catalana. Perhaps is not the flag of the Kingdom, but the standart of the viceroy (the pattern is similar to the austrian rank flags...)

You can use the empire flag.

The Black-Yellow Monarchy. Austria-Hungary is often referred to as black-yellow monarchy. I think the black-yellow flag was used for the whole, at least until 1867.
