New Scenario requires playtesting . . .

Yop:
Did you forget to Ctrl-N or something? The AI moved some of your ships when I loaded my turn. They probably also moved all your other units beyond my sight.

(I wrote Tracid at first, but I ment Yop)

looks pretty OK, so I played my turn.

German colonies are ready to be annexed. Germany asks the US to make peace, relations have been set to a higher level for that matter.

German colonies still fly the German Flag, which means troops still garrison the cities.
The German Ambassador is
, so does the Russian.
Maybe the game kicks in with these attitudes??, it is really weird. Do the barbs move in between the German and US turn?
It probably has to do with my
Questionable
reputation.;)

Tracid, what does ready to be annexed mean in your vocabulary?

I am able to establish a cease-fire with Germany, but not with Russia (unless I pay 1000 gold).

I will play my units now, so that only the diplomacy needs to be resolved later today, and will post after that.
With Russia I know from PM's that a peace is agreed upon, so I will disregard the AI attitude.
From Tracid I would like to hear what he means regarding the colonies, I am willing to accept the AI attutude as an anomaly.

Awaiting your answer(s), Germanos.

[forget about this:]
Patient English, I will send you an e-mail as well.
[/forget about this]
edit: I will NOT send an e-mail to Patient E. This post is clear enough I think on second thoughts.

As soon as the receiving nations of the german colonies are brought to the attention of Germany, the german troops will disband.

Fair enough, The US thought it was clear from the thread, but agrees some ambiguaty(sp?) could come from that.
The US will speak with its allies, so Germany will receive notice, signed by the three allied nations on the transfer of its territory.
The US does remind Germany however, that PM has been send earlier this (game-)year, regarding the transfer, and although no response was received, the US still urges Germany to act in the spirit af that. This means NO SELLING of city-improvements other that the two mentioned will be allowed. The US adds to that now, that also land-improvements should stay in place!

Germany is playing with Fire however, since it did cede its colonies to the allies, and should have disbanded its troops allready.
A positive reply to this will greatly help in establishing a cease-fire with the US.

I think that the AI screws with attitutes from time to time (ie: if the AI noticies that you're at war with someone they're at peace with it gets cranky). This is another reason not to make hasty decisions based on this ;)

State of the Union, june 1870

Studying the Mexican defence of their cities has shown these cities, build on well fortified hills, are practically invincible with current militairy technology. Therefore the militairy campaign has been halted and new borders are being negotiated. The US will remain vigilant in this region, but hopes all hostilities will end. This is uncertain, since the Mexicans are allied with many other nations that the US has a quarrel with.
Most recent a conflict broke out over Panama with the Colombian rulers. US warships bombarded the city, but alas without succes. Troops have landed near Panama, and further militairy action will be taken in July.

To show our goodwill to the German nation, a cease-fire has been negotiated with its Ambassador, and US attitude has been set to Cordial. The US hopes this will leed to disbanding German troops as requested earlier, and that a peace-treaty can be signed soon.
The Russian ambassador refused to sign any agreement, but the agreement with the deputy-Tzar stands firm. US attitude towards Russia has been set to Cordial. Russia must feel free to negotiate with the US ambassador.

Honolulu is under seige of US-warships. The US askes Japan to respect US-claims to the Hawaiian Island group.

Trade has been established with Japanese and French cities. More freights are under way to Britain, Italy, the French city of Barcelona and British India. The ship carrying these goods will pass the straits of Aden/Djibuti in July.

Militairy scientist have developped a new cannon. It is known in the US Army as Field Artillery.
A breakthrough in Economic Science was announced by scolars: Socialism as they call it, will bring happiness to the US citizens from July, which will allow stationing of US troops overseas.:)

Again, a million immigrants were welcomed in the US. :D

The US welcomes the French victories over the native Barbarians in Africa, and the Spanish, who have been supporting the Mexicans.:goodjob:

edit: forgot LazyCiv:o

and a map showing the new US-mexican border and African exploration. Note that in Africa cartographers are working in harsh conditions, and that reports received by The National Geographic Society may not reflect the most accurate situation.

Germaonos,

Yes, I definitely set the Russian attitude to the US as Cordial. This is strange, because in all the other PBEMs I play (mostly my own ;)) the attitudes stay fixed, even when someone forgets to press Crtl-N, provided no war is declared. Of course, technically the US and Russia ARE at war.

Can we meet on line to resolve this? My AIM handle is Patient1815. I can host the game when it is my turn again.

John

John,

we could meet online. I do not have AIM however, but ICQ. I can be online in the evenings, and since you are in the UK, it should be OK I suppose (me being one hour ahead of you)

I did try an online thing with one of the players before, and that didn't work:( , so I am curious to see if it was my hosting that caused it.

I guess your turn might come up during this weekend (as a reminder: Case is up now, after which it is Russia turn), which would make things even easier. Just post your local time (which is now UCT +1 if I am correct and I will just add 1 hour) you will be online, and I will confirm on the thread. During weekends I can basically play anytime.

Last time online in this scenario, I got the message 'we have not met other civ's yet' so I was also not able to start the King chat. If this happens again, I will send you a PM.

CU, Gerben

British Troops Enter Boer Republic

After advancing over the Drakensburg mountains, British troops have crossed the border of the Boer Republic. The German government is asked to evacuate both Johannesburg and Bloemfontein. (I should be able to capture Johannesburg by sending troops up the river in my next turn)

Cyprus Taken

The British Empire has continued to expand with Cyprus being the latest city nation to fall under British rule.

Germanos,

I don't have ICQ (or rather, my username has expired through lack of use). However, I could re-register quite quickly. I am going to be busy all today (Saturday) but will be able to move and try a hosting tomorrow. My local time is GMT +1. Is that the same as UCT +1?

I will check for you online at 13:00 my local time tomorrow (Sunday). What is your ICQ number?

In the meantime, I do suggest you get AIM. It seems much better, more secure and more people are using it in the Civ community for online gaming it seems to me.

John

OK John, I'll be there tomorrow.
Where do I sign up fot AIM?
you can find my ICQ number in my profile.

I think GMT should be the same as UCT (Universal Coordinated Time), but there is some confusion about it: I think sometimes GMT is regarded as UK time, which it is obviously not in the Summer( as you show). Anyway, I'll be online Sunday 13:00 your Time.

BTW Germanos, I still couldn't sign that alliance with you :( The AI thought it was a good idea, but wanted over 3000 gold!

Germanos,

Great - see you there. If you can get AIM by then, so much the better. Just search Google for AIM chat, and you'll be directed to (one of several) download pages.

Try this one...

Just hit the "New Users - Register" button, to get the program and register an online name.

In the meantime, I will get ICQ working again, so one of the two should work!

John

Russian-American peace-treaty signed.:goodjob:

Offcourse the US will grant Russia ample time to withdraw from the pacific. We will not let the tempers of the ambassadors meddle with state-affairs again:cool:

(edit: answer to post below inserted)

OK, Russia and the US are now formally at peace. Even the ambassadors think so!

Germanos, I am withdrawing my two Pacific Warships to Vladivostock. They are still 4-5 moves away from it. Otherwise the Pacific is clear of Russian warships. Is that OK?
