New terrain features

I was actually thinking about having Solar Power having its own technology. The last improvement would be perfect for that tech.

My view would that the tech would then also need a Manufacturing Plant built somewhere in your civ before it can be researched. That way you have the tech and the capacity to build the panels. ;)

Sounds like a good idea. I mainly wanted the new tech to better place my various solar power plant buildings in the Electricity Mod.

@Dancing Hoskuld

I know we have taken some from the resource mod before but perhaps the following could be added.

Resource Mod
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=434154

- Turkey: To be used instead of the poultry resource we have. Basiclly it would still be called poultry just with the new bird looking graphics.

- Alligator: A marsh resource also subdued crocs could turn into this on land.

- Pistachio and/or Almonds: So we can have some sort of nut to link my nut related city vicinity buildings to.

- Mango, Papaya and/or Pomegranate: Be nice to have some variety in fruit besides apple, lemons and bananas.

- Barley: Another grain variety to mix things up.

- Donkey: This could provide the resource for mules.

- Bear: It would be kind of cool to have bears spawn this and other related buildings. Also could link the bear riders to this too.

- Wolf: Not sure about this since it would limit dogs a lot.

- Lion and/or Tiger: Could help link spanning animals to either Africa or Asia. Also could provide a bonus along with the bear to zoos, arenas and so on.

I know they take up more room on the map, but so far the newest additions seem to still work even on a normal sized map.

Agree with :- Turkey, Pistachio, Almonds, Mango, Papaya, Pomegranate, Barley and Donkey. Already stated work on some of them.

Probably should convert Coconut, Dates et al from features to resources.

Not sure about Alligator, Bear, Wolf. Lion, and Tiger. If we had lairs then maybe. They currently spawn on what they eat.

I think Turkey and Ducks can place poultry resource already. I was going to add some flock buildings to go with them also.

It would be nice to have yields from plots not within any city radius, that way we could have a Yellowstone or Uluru!

How is that done?

Also I still think we need to try to find a geyser or hot spring terrain feature. They would be awesome to have as tourist attractions.

As for the gator I just thought it would be kind of cool to have a reptile resource since current they are just from mammals or birds when it comes to animal resources.

I saw some new terrains being talked about in the resource mod, scrub and burnt forest.
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=434154&page=8

they say it comes from a very well built Chinese mod called
anyfunmod
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=452347
supposedly there are a bunch of good ideas here.

Oh i like those terrain features. Would be nice to have the burnt forest after the forest event rather it just clearing the forest. As for the "scrub" we could re-name it "chaparral" so not to confuse it with the "Scrub" terrain.

EDIT: I downloaded the Any Fun mod and there are a few things we may want ...

- Burnt Forest
- New Forest
- Ancient Forest

Notes: These could allow us to do forest cycles.

- Tsunami
- Earthquake
- Blizzard
- Tornado

Note: These could help with the events.

- Scrub

Notes: Like posted before I think this is a good new terrain feature for deserts and scrub terrains.

@Hydro Didn't see the Donkey one. Last time I looked Pistachio, Pomegranate and barley were missing buttons. I will be looking at these again soon.

Meanwhile, please add a commerce bonus from tin to potter (tin glaze) and lead to glass smith. Thanks.

I had these again way back in NWA 003 or so all from FfH2, but at that time i had no python people around so i had to delete what i had. I'd like to get the Ancient Forest working like in FfH2, whereas, a unit that was hiding behind/in the tree, pops-out and starts to attack anything that comes in that tile, great for unexpected stuff, and lots of fun.

You might also look at the Dictionary of Geological Terms or looking up Geomorphology for more terrain feature ideas. Being an ex-geology major I know there are a number of good source such as any book on Mineralogy or minerals for resource ideas.

Excellent idea.
Did you have suggestions to start with?
It is always helpful to add your personal thoughts, and help a bit with the research if you can:)

I really like the idea of hot springs. and scrub.

Ancient forest could be consider old growth forest, that needs to be protected in modern times.
Burnt forest could be tied to natural fire disasters, cycling to replace forest, accidentally started by events like lightning strike, or camper/arson. Could threaten whole cities.

I heavily vote to focus on weather and disaster events in the next version of c2c, like others have mentioned are a major feature in SimCity. There is a new SimCity coming out soon, so you might want to check previews for ideas that could be kept in mind. I thinks events tied to terrain changes should get a lot of love and attention:)

I already have been. It looks cool and I love the new "agents" mechanic that they are using.
