New Unit: African Infantry

My dos centavos --

Arab and European slave traders carried away millions of Africans in chains; perversely, slavery and colonialism are why we have so much multi-ethnic multiculturalism in, oh, say, most of the New World.

Allowing that Civ allows us to alter history entirely, I think it only reasonable that the possibility of a modern, never colonialized, truly Great Zimbabwe remind us graphically of the often poignant differences between what was and what might have been.

Humbly,

Oz

Well look at the Indians, their skin is tanned but did we bother to change their infantry skin color,no.Now were changing African infantry with black skin color,I fail to see why we need to change these things, who cares about skin color.I don't.

Civ3 has a Zulu unique unit called the Impi. It has dark skin.

PTW has a unique Zulu king unit. It has dark skin.

Spiffor has made a great new unique unit for the Zulus. It has dark skin. What's the problem?

Nice job. :goodjob:

All this is is a flavour unit. as far as I'm concerned we need flvaour units for every civ.

by the way, the only reason his shirt is brown is because of the pallete editing. you need to know how to create units to know what i am talking about. for example, when i changed the regular Rifleman to an African Rifleman, the stock of his rifle and his canteen turned breown because of the pallete editing.

Not quite. The only reason his shirt his brown is because I wanted so. I've decided the guy didn't wear a shirt (well, at first it was a mistake, but it became a decision when I understood the mistake had a good result).

If I had gone for pure palette editing, the trousers would have been brown too, and kinda awkward. What I've done was copy / pasting the relevant brown areas (i.e head, torso and arms) from the palette edited file to the original file.

Besides, I am the one who wrote the post about this guy being shirtless :D

Thanks, Zulu

No Sir! "This is a black-skinned equivalent of the Infantry. This takes part to the general idea of having African Civs fight with black-skinned units. I have made this unit with palette modifications and copy/pasting of the skin parts on the original graphics."

I don't think it's racist. Besides, I include the Boer unit as my rifleman - a nod to white Africans on the continent.

While it is certainly a big no-no to dig up 1.1 year-old unit threads, I AM kinda glad someone did. I was about to go hunting for this one.

Can anyone remember or point me to the the thread for the African Settler/Worker palette conversions?
