New Unit: Byzantine Heavy Cataphract

Been waiting for this a long time already :) Good job.

That unit is really great... I'm envious of some of the graphical talents around here.

Great unit! I think this is an important histoical unit.

It is difficult to give stats to as that heavy armour should give it a serious defence rating but at the same time the cataphracts' strength was it's ability to break up defencive lines. Not sure what the best balance is.

Regardless, I love the unit. Thanks.

You have got to love the look of this.

OT-Xen what would you suggest for civ-specific traits?

for Byzantium?

either Religious-Scientific, -OR- Religious-Commercial

Ohh yeah...cool unit!!!

Thats one well-trained mount. He even ducks his head when the rider swings his spear  :goodjob:

@Tacit exit- they were supposed to be well trained in real life to keep thire heads down during an entire charge, not to mention the subsequnt battles.... one of the reasons why they were so danm expensive- expensive to the point, that eventaully Byzantium couldt afford to keep 'em around...which happens to coincide with the Byzantine empires decline.... coincidence, I think not!

@aaglo-Just wait for the Cataphract "upgrades" ;) you'll see what i mean soon :D

I think yes:rolleyes: :p

Upgrades? I should have known.:p :D

you'll see soon enough, but we have the most magnificent Kryten, as well as the ever glorious Utahjazz to thank for them :D

I have NEVER successfully downloaded a unit, so how to download this one? If there was only one unit I could download it would be the all powerful Cataphract!

Huh? -- I see you use the MAC GUI style and if you're actually using a MAC I can't help you ... HOWEVER, if you're on a PC and left-clicking on the link doesn't work, try right-clicking on it and choose "Save Target As".

its one of them,a Roman cataphract to be used by the roman empire, and greece as a knight replacement is on the way thanks to Kryten

I am a PC user but when I download the unit by left clicking or saving target as by right clicking it's the same, there are weird folders that say things like cataphract attackb.flc and cataphract run.flc and when I click on those it says "Would you like to search the web for the approriate link or select it from a list". So could someone plainly say what to do with the files, unzipping, zipping, compressing, and all of this stuff!?!?!

Again with the caveat that I'm not a Mac user -- It sounds as though whatever clicking you're doing is automatically unzipping the Zip file for you ... ? If it's giving you a list of .flcs those ARE component parts of the unit; try d/l-ing them all (and the .ini as well),
