New Units: The Might of Rome

Kryten has a date with the late roman cataphract first, and formost :D

and WONDERFUL UNITS bebro :goodjob: keep up the good work- though as a point of analysis, the look a bit big compared to average civ3 unit...

There's only one thing I can say:
These Romans are FANTASTIC!!

Good job, Bebro!:goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob:

Damn, how´s that possible - I swear I checked it :(

Sorry guys, seems I have to do an update despite I didn´t want to do so. Ok I will fix that asap

As far as I know it happens once the storyboard is converted to a civ III flic in FLICster. Also, as far as I know, there is no way around it beside re-rendering the animation with more space on the sides.

It could also work if you resize the storyboard a bit with SBB before exporting to FLC. No need to render again

Aha, If only I knew that before I rendered 35 units.... :P

Yeah you´re right, I checked the storyboards - they were all ok. Then I converted all to flcs without looking again - that must be the cause.

However, I simply removed those things with photopaint from the storyboards, then it worked (so I didn´t have to render again).

On the 'a bit big' topic,...

The late version is alright, but the early one is quite tall.

Well, they are all at the same size from foot to the head, just the feathers at the helmet of the early guy make him appear a bit bigger. All three are slightly bigger than eg. a Civ3 hoplite, but I think it is acceptable.

The only thing I´m going perhaps to improve is the "smoothness". However, as said, not so soon ;)

Very, very nice !!!! Could it be that you have a scenario in the making, oh master of the Imperium Romanum ;) ???

Not myself for the moment. However, I currently do some stuff for Arne´s planned Rise of Rome scn ;)

I've added these units as replacements for the Spearman, Swordsman, Medieval Infantry and Horseman (I'll replace the Knight with the Cataphract being created.) ... If anyone cares :) It's not that realistic, since the first and last of the legionaries are only 400 years apart, but I just HAD to add them all :D :goodjob:

Same for me...
I know have the Mirmillion to replace tribal warrior,
Princeps (early legio) to replace the Spearman
Legionary (late legio) to replace the Warrior
Imperial Legionary to replace the phalanx
Praetorian to replace swordsman
Auxilia replace horse archer.

The Early Republican Legionary was renamed to "Republican Legionary".
The Late Republican Legionary was renamed to "Caesarian Legionary".
The Imperial Legionary was renamed to "Praetorian Guard".
The vanilla Legionary was renamed "Centurion". (Well, yeah, he's got no pilum! ;) )

Actually, I was kinda hoping for a Velite dude hucking javelins. This whole two Republican legionary thing is putting me in a bit of a tizzy!! Ah well, the more the merrier, eh? :D

Very, Very cool.
More sword fodder for my Gallic swordsmen. Now I have Marian, Caesarian, and Early Imperial Roman Legionaries to Kick around.
BTW Kryten I dont think Roman Cavalry deserve any more than a Flavour unit. They were kinda lame. If they had done they're job the massacre at trebia would never have happened. And I really don't think they deserve the same ATT as Roman Legions.
But Bebro THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU for these units.
 Tathy
