New UU's

Thunderfall Unit - All civs have happiness doubled, but production is halved.

British - Tony Blair - All railroads stop working!

Japanese - Miyamato - When he attacks a city, city loses all production, and treasury is greatly lowered. All citizens now look like plumbers!

For turks: jannisaries are UU and they go for musketman.
For vikings: longboat are UU and they go for galley.

Americans: Obese Fast Food Lover unit if it moves on any square that square's food prodution is reduced by 95%, and it has a special Fart Bombard ability which enables it to bombard up to 20 squares away and is lethal to the poor unit chosen to be bombarded. :D

I hope I haven't offended anyone in the preceding paragraph.

Swedish Taxcollectors - Increases tax income by 200% BUT all money must be spent on useless roads and irregations far away from cities. If this cannot be done, the money is distributed to all Communist neighbours

Why not have a swedish opposition politician unit who allways complaine about the taxes and who wants to sell all the state owned companys to capitalist companys instead. In game this means that your tax income will become about 0 but since you dont have to run your empire yourself the game only takes an halfhour and cities in thundra areas wont have any production since noone will bother to take the snow away.

I had an interesting idea for a Canadian unique unit. Canada has long been a leading peacekeeping nation. We have special soldiers called blue hats that excel at keeping the peace in volitile situations.

What if a Blue Hat was an infantry unit, with increased defense and decreased attack, that worked like a privateer. It could attack and defend without revealing nationality.

Any thoughts?

LOLOLOLOL!!!!! I hope some other people can see the flawed logic here.

The beauty of privateers is that ALL CIVS GET THEM!!!!

Now, imagine that I'm playing (the much awaited) multiplayer, and get attacked by some wonderful BLUE HATS!! Ooh, I wonder who could be attacking me? Maybe the Chinese? Or the Persians? Or possibly the French?

I hope I've already made my point, but if not: WHAT IS THE POINT OF CONCEALING THE NATIONALITY OF A UNIT IF ONLY ONE CIV GETS THAT UNIT?!?!?!?!?!?

Now, serious time:

Here are some holes that may be filled (based on the attributes of current UUs). Feel free to try and attach them to any civs you want

Normal Swordsman, requires no iron (??? Vikings ???)

Marine with two moves/attacks (would've been my choice for the brits.... the SAS, but they got a stupid MoW instead)

Horseman with + 1 (maybe even +2) defense (Carthaginian Elephants anyone?)

Knight with + 1 attack (would go great for mongols)

musketman with + 1 move (kudos to whoever suggested this for the turks before)

Horseman that requires no horses (dont take that literally please)(possible Aboriginal warrior or somethin like that)

Cavalry with + 1 movement (for 4 total!) (Woud make an xcellent Spanish Conquistador)

Longbowman that ignores city pop DF bonuses (including walls).(??? Maybe second American indian culture, or even Mayans ???)

Another Turk UU idea would be Sipahis - very mobile light cavalry. Perhaps 4/3/3 Knights that doesn't require Iron? (Fielded alongside other Ottoman units, they beat European knights at many occasions.)

I made mine as 5/2/3 and -1hp. They are very quick and are great vs Knight, but are dead meat if they are caught in the open.

Another unit to consider for the Turks or the Romans are the Cataphract. I would make them 3/4/2 and replace the Knight

THE PROBLEM: All the original ancient units (I long ago heavily edited the post-gunpowder units) are too close together in values and strengths. By doing that it makes it difficult to create meaningfully different units. Unless Firaxis changes unit values for the better. Don't hold your breath,

Agreed. The solution I came up with was to modify the hp. I set the following:

Cons 3
Reg 4
Vet 6
Elite 8

At which point I can now effectively change UU by giving them +1 or -1 hp to make them unique as well as modifing their A/D/M and Bom strength.

Better to have a Yoshiro Mori unit:

Automatically borrows twice the treasury from other civs, at 50% interest,

Automatically loans thousands of gold pieces to other civs that have no ability to pay you back,

Automatically builds roads in mountains that no one ever uses,

Automatically rush builds airports in all cities at twice the price,

Automatically decreases the effectiveness of the Wall Street small wonder by 90%

Automatically adds in another spending slider called "pork barrel spending" and always takes up 10% of your tax income,

And well you get the point.
