he means the savegame (like "Lincoln of the Americans 1140 AD.SAV"), not the whole game

The latter is not true anymore, since it was changed in one of the later civ3 (1.21?) pathces. Now the AI don't get any research bonus on the higher levels, but it is instead the human player who gets a research handicap. However, the AI will get a production and growth bonus, so their cities grow faster and they will build libraries/universities faster, resulting in faster research.Originally posted by Padma
First, they are trading techs with the AI, as that helps speed up the tech race.
Second, they are probably playing on higher levels, as the AI gets research bonuses there, which also speeds up the tech race.
Yes, you improve the odss from 0 to something else, provided all other requirements are fulfilled. To get a settler from a hut, the following must be true:Originally posted by Grille
Being inspired by a re-animated thread,
do I increase odds on getting a settler out of a hut when I switch all settler production temporarily to something else before entering that hut, but do so in the very same turn (also assuming that I don't have any settlers running around)? Should I wait a turn (because a settler-build-flag might already be set at start of a turn)?

* You are not currently building any settlers.
* You don't have any settlers on the map.
* You don't have more cities than the average number of cities among the AI.
And no, you don't have to switch away from the settler a turn before popping the hut.
Maybe there's a difference between PTW and vanilla civ3.Originally posted by Aggie
You CAN get a city from a goody hut when you have settlers on the map though. Happened to me last week.
