an elite (4/5) swordsman seems to have replaced my veteran spearman
Sorry about not posting that. I was going down the list of my threads and hadn't got to this yet. The 5th Swordsman Division attacked and killed a 4/4 spear. It lost one hit point (3/4) but promoted (4/5). Playing the save as I type.

Too bad we couldn't celebrate the new millenium with the burning of English corpses...

I will be leaving for Memorial Day weekend (until May 30th) this afternoon (GMT -7), so don't think that I'm being a butt and stopping up the game simply because I'm not on top. :)

Veteran horseman attacks veteran swordsman, and is almost instantly redlined.
Instead of retreating he proceeds to win.

Filled in a hole in the ground, probably with the bits of road going over it.

Praetaria has an attack of her own:

4/4 4th Swordsman Division attacks 5/5 swordsman - 4th Div. dies, swordsman now 4/5
4/4 8th Swordsman Division attacks 5/5 swordsman - swordsman dies, 8th Div. still 4/4

Vet sword kills Vet Sword 8, 1/4 promoted 2/5
Vet sword kills Reg Spear 2, 2/4
Vet sword dies redlining Reg Sword 7
Reg Sword kills Con Sword 9, 3/3 promoted 4/4
Reg Sword kills Vet Spear 4 (1/4), 3/3 promoted 4/4
Reg Sword kills Reg Sword 7 (1/3), 3/3 promoted 4/4

English troops surround an empty foreign capital.
An eerie silence falls, punctuated only by distant cries of
'Remember the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th"
:king:

((I think I might abandon pbem after this, my first game, because I doubt I will see such consistent luck in battle in future))

Seeing the failure of the Praetarian Home Guard to defend the capital, the president and his advisors have fled La Ville de RegentMan and are en route to Ferric Ferrous. As the English Army destroys the stables, the 1st Horseman Division escapes the capital and destroys a damaged English horse in the east. In order not to be known as the person to raze the once largest city in the world, the president ordered La Ville de RegentMan not to be destroyed upon leaving. However, all city improvements were sold, and all excess population was whipped away to give the new English overlords a problem to deal with upon their capture of the city.
