Newbie Succession Game

590 AD: The great emperor Thiazi after a 320 hundred year absence and peacefully retains the throne that is rightfully his. His first acts are to rush the temple at Knossos and the harbor at Pharsalos. Each city lost 1 population point in their efforts to appease the emperor. Thiazi then traded our territory map to the Babylonians for their world map. In honor of our emperor’s reemergence to the throne, Athens establishes a party of settler to help expand our glorious empire.

600 AD: Pharsalos completes its harbor and starts production of a library. Knossos completes its temple and starts the production of a harbor. Athens completes a regiment of archers and starts the production of a group of settlers. Horrible news! The Babylonians have started the production of the Great Lighthouse.

610 AD: The emperor is generous; he has raised the luxury rate to 10%. The library in Pharsalos is rushed but at the cost of 1 population point.

620 AD: Pharsalos starts the production of a group of hoplites to defend our vital ore outpost.

630 AD: Our settler has landed on the eastern shore of NW Island! We have started the production of a great road from Epherus to Argos! Horrible news! The treacherous Babylonians have demanded our territory map and 38 gold; emperor Thiazi obliges for now is not the time for war.

640 AD: The great city of Rhodes is founded on the eastern shore of NW Island! A group of settlers has been completed in Athens and they will be sent to secure our iron deposit on Zulu Island. Great news! The glorious city of Delphi has completed its library and it will now focus its attention on a group of hoplites. The cultural boundaries in Pharsalos have expanded!

650 AD: We have continued the improvement of our infrastructure.

660 AD: Our settlers have landed on Zulu Island!

670 AD: Our scholars have mastered the secrets of polytheism; may the Gods watch over us! They will now focus their attention on a new form of government called a “monarchy.” Terrible news! The wretched Iroquois have completed the Great Wall.

680 AD: Our diplomats have traded the secrets of our many Gods to the Babylonians for their knowledge of a new government called the Republic. Our diplomats have traded our secrets of literature to the Ruß for 37 gold and their world map. An uprising has occurred in Athens and our government is no more. Experts believe that this state of may last 30 years.

690 AD: Our country is in a state of anarchy.

700 AD: The city of Eretria is founded on the Zulu Island to secure our source of iron; they have started to gather a group of hoplites to protect themselves.

710 AD: Great news! The military has suppressed the revolters and we have now established a representative government to appease the masses. Our leader, Thiazi has raised our science rates to 40% and our scholars will learn the secrets of the monarchy in 20 turns. Our diplomats have purchases the secrets of mathematics from the Babylonians for 80 gold. Some of the townspeople have noticed the presence of a group of Babylonian warriors and settlers on our land; we believe that they our lost and will not be much of a threat.

720 AD: Emperor Thiazi has rushed the production of the Library at Argos for the cost of 44 gold. Our diplomats have established embassies with the Zulu and the Ruß at the cost of 34 gold each. Our diplomats have purchased a group of Babylonian workers for 25 gold and our diplomats have sold polytheism to the Ruß for their world map, 9 gold and 2 gold per turn. They also purchased a Ruß worker for 25 gold.

730 AD: The citizens of Argos have completed their library; they will now focus their attention on the production of a courthouse. Our newly acquired workers are building a road to the silk that is just south of Athens. Our diplomats have sold our world map to the Babylonians for their world map and 4 gold.

Overall, I feel that my reign went really well. We completed several temples and libraries, acquired three new technologies, founded two new cities and switched our government from Despotism to the Republic. Whoever has the next turn should move the ships in Athens out, so that we can immediately begin exploring new lands when we get the Great Library (10 turns). We should look into raising our research rate and when we get Monarchy, we should milk it for all it is worth. I think we will be fine remaining under the Republic but that will be the next ruler’s decision. We should probably start to build up somewhat of a military, right now we are very weak in that department and are vulnerable to losing our foreign territories and we are a good target for invasion. I wish much luck to our next ruler and may the Gods protect Greece!

-Thiazi

If there are no objections may I further speed up the game and join. This will be my first succession game but I have been playing since the day it was released. I can post my results within 2-3 hours. I am excited to try this out!!!:D

I just got done with my 15 turns, behold the work of King Cdub...

740 AD- King Cdub waltzed into his capital and notices the shabby state his military is in . "What to do?" The honorable Cdub asks. The great military council says that we are a weak military nation, King Cdub doesn't allow this to be spoken of his beloved Greece and decides to do something about it.
Delphi- completes and fortifies a hoplite.
Herakkelia- the library is changed to swordsmen
Thessalonica- worker is created
Knossos, Argos, Eretia are ordered to halt there progress at once and hence forth the creation of a hoplites.

....yes a new leader has emerged, and the Greek people beg for the military supremacy that they deserve :soldier:

750 AD- Ordered are galleys into position above Corinth, King Cdub has envisioned a Greek island chain to the north that is free of other nations, the Babylonians were the great Kings first target. The Great King also booted the tresspassers of Babylonia to get out of our territory or taste our steel.

760 AD- The Great King did realized the importance of some culture so he allowed the librbary to be constructed in Thermopylae, but then quickly ordered that swordsmen be constructed.

770 AD- Knossos creates a hoplite, they too are now constructing mighty Greek swordsmen.

780 AD- Athens constructed swordsmen, they are continuing on with another. All military units on the motherland are being sent to Corinth to board the invasion fleet.

790 AD- King Cdub disliked the foul smell (probably himself) that was going through Greece so he quickly constructed roads to the incense and made everything smell so fresh and so clean clean:D

800 AD- Are greedy neighbors Zululand extorted polytheism from us, little to they know about the massive military the Greeks will one day have...

810 AD- Bad news :( The source of iron near Eretria has been depleted. It just so happens that the Zululand city of Umtata has some... King Cdub has visions of mighty armored Greek wheels rolling through Zululand one day.

820 AD- Athens and Delphi continue to pump out swordsmen. King Cdub's military council claims that we no longer have a "weak" military now we have an average one. It wont be long untill Greece is back where she belongs.

830 AD- King Cdub woke up to the bright lights of Sparta's newly completed Lighthouse, Sparta is now also creating swordsmen.
Argos completing a hoplite, a temple is in the works now.

840 AD- The fair citizens of Greece realized how great their leader truly was and decided to make Cdub's one story house into a two story party palace where all were joined in to smoke the pungent weed and drink many, many fine domestic brews  Ohhh but the next morning was a different story :(
Roads to the incense was complete.

850 AD- Pharsalos created a hoplite and was ordered to create another.
Athens- completed yet another glorious swordsmen and then the govenor was instructed to create galley in an attempt to build another invasion/exploration fleet.
Rhodes- completed Hoplite, another is in the works
Mycenae- Library was changed to swordsmen

860 AD- Thermoplae creates swordsmen and then is instructed to create another.
Mycenae- swordsmen are constructed, a worker is in the works to help on the domestic front, more irrigation is definitely needed !
King Cdub's scientist team discovered a new form of government called Monarchy! Now Cdub could actually call himself "king" and his people wouldn't blame it on all the fine greek pungent weed growing across the fertile plains.

870 AD- The invasion fleet of 3 galleys is loaded up and ready for a move on the infidel Babylonians to the north. The city that is my prime target is Zariquim. King Cdubs beloved Greece is in anarchy, when will the madness stop!!!

880 AD- Moved the invasion fleet of the coast of Zariquim. Civil disorder in Sparta.

Well there it is, my first turn on a succession game. I mainly focused on building up are military, it was in a very sad state when King Cdub took the reins'. Our invasion fleet in the north is ready, I would personally wait to halt the invasion until our new government is all set. Well I am excited to see what happens :king:

I've downloaded it, I'll play 10 or 15 turns and post back in an hour or two.

890 AD-benjdm IV, a monarch bent on conquest, begins uniting the Greeks to form a new government. For the moment, anarchy continues.
900 AD-Anarchy continues
910 AD Zulu Impi & Warrior make threatening moves towaed Ephesus but stay within their borders.
920 AD- Greek monarchy established. Warriors move to secure undefended Eretria. We demand the city of Zariqum from Babylonians. They refuse. WAR !
930 AD-We slaughter Babylonian Warrior and capture two workers near Mycenae. Zariqum is destoroyed in first attack and a settler is immediately ordered to fill the gap. Remaining forces board fleet and head north.
940 AD- Eretria completes hoplite and begins work on temple.
950 AD- Greek soldiers continue marches and land near Shiruppak.
960 AD- Greek attack on Shiruppak fails with losses of one archer and two warriors. Destroyed one of the northern cities and captured the other.

That was all I could do before my eyelids started drooping too much. Babylonians seem pretty weak at least up north. This might turn into a very profitable war if they are equally weak on their homeland. Good luck to my successor !

Good work Ben! The Babylonians were definitely no match for our fine Greek steel. Russia is also looming on Greeks north island.... who is up next???---- donsig, EmperorSnefix (if you're still there) Lets keep this game going! ;)

970 AD: Donsigopoulis forces Russian squatters from Greek territory.

980: Hammurabi asks for peace but will not pay tribute to Athens. The war continues.

990: The people love Donsigopoulis.

1000: Troy founded and Sharuppak annexed.

1030: Ibabanago begs to join the Greek empire and are accepted.

1080: Maps traded with Catherine of Russia.

1090 - 1150: Troops positioned near Zulu mineral deposits...

I positioned the bulk of our offensive forces near Zululand. If we attack we should drive for their iron...

I am not the most successful warrior in the world and if I had everything to do all over again, I would have done a more slash and burn campaign but still we have taken the Zulu’s iron supply and we managed to pick up a couple cities and some wine, so it wasn’t a complete failure. I got the object completed but I could have done a lot more if I had thought my plan through. Anyway, here is the account of my reign:

1150 AD: King Thiazi offers our territory map to the Babylonians as a gesture of good will; we are about to embark on another war and we do not need more enemies. The city of Thermopylae completes its harbor and begins production of a galley. Sparta finishes its courthouse and begins production of a much-needed barracks. Our troops have been dispatched towards the economic backbone of the Zulu Nation, a.k.a. Ulundi. We have sent a galley, along with an elite archer towards the Zulu capitol of Zimbabwe.

1160 AD: The King has declared war on the Zulu’s, may the God’s protect us in this glorious venture! Our swordsmen have defeated an elite Zulu warrior just south of the Isipezi (sp?). Mycenae finishes its library and starts production of a group of hoplites. Eretria finishes its library and starts production of its own group of hoplites.

1170 AD: Umtata falls but at the cost of a unit of archers.

1180 AD: Isandhlwana captured along with two Zulu workers. The road to the iron supply near Ulundi has been destroyed. Horrible news! We have lost our supply of spices and the Ruß refuse to offer them at a reasonable price… After we finish off the Zulu’s, we should focus our attention on the relatively weak Russians. The Babylonians will probably help us get rid of them and after that we can take out the Babs.

1190 AD: Terrible news! The Zulu have recaptured Isandhlwana. Argos produces a temple and starts production of a group of hoplites. Great news! Our glorious warriors have captured the Zulu stronghold of Ulundi, along with its two wines and supply of iron and they have captured the Zulu City of Isipezi on NW Island.

1200 AD: The market in Athens is finished and they start production of a coliseum. The hoplite in Eretria is finished and they begin production of a catapult. We have begun production of gardens at our palace.

1210 AD: We attempt to sue for peace with the Zulu but our envoy is denied. We have purchased feudalism from the Babylonians at the cost of 220 gold and a world map; it is a hefty price to pay but it was a cost that we had no choice but to accept. Our scholars have now begun the study of theology. Sparta finishes its barracks and begins production of Sun Tzu’s Art of War-- how appropriate. Delphi completes its aqueducts and starts walls.

1220 AD: We have a lost a galley in the northern sea. A deal has been struck with the Zulus. We both agree to peace treaties and the Zulu pay us a tribute of 44 gold.

1230 AD: Mycenae finishes its hoplites and focuses its attention on the construction of a temple.

1240 AD: Herakleia finishes its temple and starts a harbor. Eretria finishes its catapult and begins the production of a much-needed harbor.

1250 AD: Thermopylae finishes a galley and starts on an aqueduct. Corinth switches production to an aqueduct. Knossos finishes its library and starts production of an archer.

1255 AD: Delphi finishes its walls and starts on a pikeman. “Pires” added to our palace.

1260 – 1270 AD: Quiet.

Like I said at the beginning, I accomplished the primary objectives of our war but I still felt like I should have taken or raised 3 or 4 more cities. The Zulu’s are now weak and without iron, we should put together another attack force and see if we can make them a thing of the past. We are really putting ourselves in a good situation and if we can get rid of the Zulus, then the Ruß and then the Babs, I see no reason, why we cannot take over the world. I am sorry for not being a great warrior but I always focus more on culture and infrastructure than I do on war. We need to complete the road to our northern cities on the Zulu island and we should extend the road to Ulundi. Good luck to the next person and we should switch our technology to chivalry and if possible we should operate at a loss, if it leads to us getting it much faster.

I got it! Will post the results in a couple of hours. I like how fast this game is going! :goodjob:

King Cdub II takes the thrown... the empire is in a lot better shape then when his father first took over.

1275 AD- The Zulu town of Ngome realizes fow great Greece is and decides to join us :) .

1280 AD- King Cdub II gets a message from the Babs noticing they want some fine Greek silks, we oblige for a price; world map, 3/turn, and 16 gold. The King realizes we need the money so our fine scientists can discover a future tech called chivalry.

1285 AD- The King ups the science output to 50%, an odd idea called "Theology" is now only 7 turns away.

1290 AD- Rizzo, govenor of Athens, tells the great King that a colosseum has been constructed. Cdub immediately tells Rizzo that swordsman are needed for the upcoming fight against the no good Zulu nation to the west, he obliges. In Thessalonica a temple is constructed, a galley is ordered to be built so it can one day send our magnificent armies west. Thermopylae and Delphi are also ordered to produce swordsman. The great general Majikest applauds the King for building up the armies.

1295 AD- Shuruppak completes its harbor, they are ordered to construct a temple. The great citizens of Greece build Cdub II a third story to his palace :D ! The great King parties like it was 1999 and passes out on the bathroom floor  .

1300 AD- Delphi adds to our military strenght by building a swordsman, they are ordered to produce more.

1305 AD- Athens and Thermopylae construct swordsman, there fate lies to the west....

1310 AD- Umtata constructs a hoplite in defense against the barbaric Zulu swine. Our scientists report to Cdub II that they have discovered Theology, we now proceed on to Chivalry.

1315 AD- Heralklia adds to our military strenght with yet another swordsman. Troy completes a Library and is ordered to produce a Temple ( Cdub wonders why it wasn't the other way around  )

1320 AD- In a move that will effect the world in no other way, King Cdub puts on his army fatigues and orders his military to load the galleys and set west for Zimbabwe.

1325 AD- Catherine wants to show The Great Cdub where her home is ( Cdub has no interest mind you :crazyeyes ) and gives her territory map to Greece in exchange for ours.

1330 AD- Shaka orders our galleys out of his territory, Cdub bites his tongue and waits for the coming years.... :soldier:

1335 AD- Shaka does the same thing again..... "just wait" Cdub mutters under his breath. Athens adds to the armies with a swordsman. Our palace is expanded once again, King Cdub II plays a drunken game of twister:beer: , then wets himself and blacks out :( .

1340 AD- Delphi produces swordsman.Four of our glorious swordsmen are unloaded near Zimbabwe, they greet two other brigades in the same location, Cdub II grins in anticipation.

1345 AD- The Babs and us exchange World Maps. Corinth adds to our armies with a swordsman. Argos completes a worker so we can hurry our roads to connect that iron to the rest of our cities. Our palace is yet expanded again... Catherine of Russia has heard of Cdub's wild palace parties and she tries to come uninvited  , Cdub II overdoses on Greek punjent weed and too many Babylonian imports and on his deathbed he was heard saying...." sack Yakutsk to the north, Catherine was not invit.... argh.....( silence)

On this turn I again focused on producing more military units, and again I set up the next ruler with a great oppurtunity to sieze all the glory from the honorable Cdub and ransack some Zulu cities. Zimbabwe is all but ours the next couple of turns. Swordsman are also being produced at arapid pace on the motherland with galleys on there way to load them up, and Chivalry is only 4 turns away! So whoever takes the next turn remember--- The Zulu's are toast and, remember, Catherine was not invited :) !!!

Wow, we made alot of progress since last night!

Do we have an official rotation? I'm not quite sure who's turn it is:confused: .

I think it's my turn. Sorry about screwing the rotation up. But I was busy with the "real world"(I think that's what people call it.) I'll post with my reign in a couple hours.

The Chronicles of Emperor Snefix III:

1345- Lord Snefix of Sparta starts an investigation into the death of King Cdub. He discovers that the wine the King had been drinking that night was poisened by Catherine of the Russians. Upon discovery of this Lord Snefix is granted the power by the aristocrats to take over the rule of Greece, thus making him Emperor Snefix III. His first act as ruler is to trade Incense and Wines to the Babylonians for Gems, 3 gold per turn, and 13 gold. His second act as Emperor is to demand tribute of two cities from the Russians as repayment of killing the king. When they refuse he declares war against them.

1350- Greek troops commence a siege around the Russian city of Yakutsk.

1355- Our glorious troops raze the city of Sverdolsk. The siege is succesful and we capture Yakutsk.

1360- Repositioned troops to a more strategic location.

1365- The city of Ulundi is converted through culture back to the Zulu. We begin to research Education, through which we will hopefully learn Astronomy and Navigation.

1370- Emperor Snefix III realizing that the troops around Ulundi are not enough to make war with the Zulu and are offending them, decides in his great wisdom, to withdraw them and use them to fortify cities on the continent and help with the invasion of the Russian mainland.

1375- Research spending is lowered, but the extra money is given to the hard-working Greek people in the form of luxaries. We begin the invasion of mainland Russia and blockade Kiev.

1380- Our glorious troops capture Kiev! From here we can secure spices and position our troops for a direct assault on the Russians. An expansion to the palace is given by the people from being so happy about the war and luxaries.

1385- Battles in the outskirts of Kiev.

1390- Position troops to attack Smolensk.

1395- Our troops capture Smolensk, depriving Russia of their only source of Iron.

1400- The Russians sue for peace giving us 22 gold, a worker, and all their maps.

1405- A time for peace: We begin the construction of the Sistine Chapel in Athens.

1410- Emperor Snefix III signs orders sending troops to occupy the captured Russian territory. They are given specific orders to stay out of the cities, but within the borders. Workers are also sent to help repair the roads outside Kiev.

1415- Troops land in occupied Russia. One morning, Emperor Snefix III suffers a heart attack while eating breakfast. Doctors rush to his aid but nothing can be done to save him.

Thus ended the reign of Snefix III, his reign possible as impressive as that of Snefix I. It easily over shadowed that of Snefix II.

Guys, I won't be able to play until Wednesday night at the earliest. Anybody who wants to take a turn feel free.
