News: BOTM 14 Results and Congratulations

In case it was missed, I figured I repost it at the top of the new page (for default 20 posts per page, before someone says they have a crazy weird posts per page setting :p)

Based on past experience, I think it takes DS some time to generate this map. So be patient. I'm sure it is important to him too, since he succeeded in this game to make people settle in many different places.

Some people have no patience! OK, here it is, but you'll just have to wait for DS to provide his expert commentary on the data.

Here's where everyone settled.

The Small Print:
The numbers by each player's name indicate the turn settled on (starting turn is 0). Players are colour coded by game class (challenger=red, adventurer=blue). Symbols indicate victory condition, if there's no symbol then the player either retired or was defeated. The yellow border indicates the land that was visible at the start of the game.

Awesomw! I love these little maps, and after the disappearance of them for the GotM and WotM, I was worried they'd gone forever.

Looking at that, I'm actually a little surprised how many moved. I thought Fish + plenty of cottagable grassland + starting on a plains hill made settling in place a no-brainer.
Then again, what's more surprising is the rough percentage of those who moved. I'd expect either quite a few more to move, because of something juicy appearing to be nearby, or quite a few less, because of the Archipelago and the limited land and, as a byproduct, an expectation of a limited number of cities that'd be able to produce at a decent rate.

I was just worried about it, because it wasn't there for GotM 38 or WotM 21.

Thanks for the nudge. I've uploaded those maps as well now.

What are the blue lines in the map?

Also I feel I should win some sort of special loser prize for wandering four turns before deciding on the original settler position :crazyeye:

Whatever happened to those maps showing where everyone settled? I liked them.

They got delayed because of my extreme busy-ness and lack of time for civfanatics the last week or so. But I see Alan has now filled in with them :D

Edit: Hey, there should be a "quickest play" or "most efficient" (points / time) award! I would compete for either of those!

Oh no, can you imagine... The winner of such an award would probably be someone who each turn opens their game, grabs a couple of quick screenshots, closes the game, then spends the next 10 minutes looking at the screenshots in Paint or something so the time doesn't get recorded, while they plan out the precise sequence of actions they'll take next.

Or you could just press "Pause" :mischief:

.

That goes pretty profoundly against the nature of people who play quickly. If I were going to go through all that trouble, I'd just play a 10 hour game!

Ridiculous as it is I wouldn't put it past some people though.
