Barbarians: Roaming

Just what I need to ease myself back into Civ after a brief break. I may settle E-SE so I can fit more cities along the river. Need to get as many +1 city center food bonuses as possible.

Hopefully there will be some cows or wheat near enough to make a nice Settler factory, a Large Pangaea will have lots of room to settle before going a conquering. This could be a good set-up for great cultural victory, because the monsters of the midway will nail the Conquest/Domination VCs. I might just play this one.

After getting shell-shocked in COTM55, this indeed looks like a nice and easy game for recovery...
Not sure though about the VC, Overseer: this site smells so obviously like 20K, that competition might be quite tough in that category...

What good is the Jaguar Warrior? I don't want another despotic GA...! Just had 4 in a row: in COTM53 it was either loose a town or use a Bowman, in COTM54 quite the same with a Legion, in GOTM85 I thought it would be nice to have an early GLH, completely forgetting that it triggers the GA for the English, and in GOTM86 I was playing 20K and it was either take the Colossus (which in PTW triggers the GA for Spain) or loose a big pile of shields...
I need to find a strategy that works without building any warriors

Happy new year every one!

Use them as scouts only, disband them if they get caught in AI terrirory. Build Archers or Warriors for your core, where AI civs are likely to attack. Remember, in Conquests you can build normal Warriors as well as Jags. If you are really paranoid about despo GAs, build no Jags at all.
