News: SGOTM 4 Sign-up Thread

An official lurker will usually be a player who's had "history" with the team in question in the past - usually in previous SGOTMs - but who for whatever reasons doesn't have time to actively participate.

I'd like to play, but if teams are set I'll pitch my name in here as a possible alternate. I won't read any threads, etc. and hop in someone needs an alt.

1) Prince / Monarch player.
2) Yes
3) Yes
4) No Pref
5) Windows XP only.

An official lurker as I understand it gives them the right to post and comment on the game for just that one thread.

Any thread can be read by pure lurkers, but an official lurker agrees to look at only one thread.

My personal preference would be to have players and spectators ... period.

"Official Lurkers" appeared when players wanted to be involved in team discussions within the threads for teams they had played in previously, but were not going to play turn sets because of time constraints or whatever.

As far as I am concerned they are team players who don't submit turn sets, and who I don't count when I'm ensuring that teams have enough playing members. Since the genii is out of the bottle I shall continue to allow them in moderation, but I shall avoid stretching the point to defining lurkers who have no previous relationship with the teams they want to be attached to.

Beorn we seem to have been using the spoiler over here for this game and especially with non cdz'ers we should make an effort to use this one, its only a few more clicks to get here :)

I applaud your suggestion. It will be difficult to add players to your team as long as you insist on playing as an 'away team'.

It's zero more clicks to get here if you set your CFC team thread as a favourite.

I've updated the team lists to include all requests to date.
Team threads will open shortly.

The Maintenance Thread for this game is now open for general, non-spoiler discussion and announcements for this game.

Your Team Threads are also all open, and the SGOTM Progress page is primed to provide your individual team start files in approximately 4.5 hours from now.

Please ensure that you download only your own team file when you begin. Each start file is individually tagged with the team name.

just noticed this post- the original reason for not posting on cfc was because the majority of the players couldnt access cfc from work (where they did all their posting) thus not being able to access the thread- this has changed with player change and new blood now of course :)

Yes, I saw that explanation once before, and I wondered why CFC barring by employers would be a bigger problem for CDZ players than for the rest of the SGOTM community.

pre this SGOTM cdz took the game at a lot more laid back pace. However if more posting and therefore discussion was done whilst they were at work then it is best that the thread was at a place where they could access- this worked ok with the first 2 SGOTM's because we copy pasted all the posts over. Now we've just decided it was easier to do it here :)

Or why we should be changing our rules to help people get around restrictions that their employers have deliberately imposed.

In what way what so ever we're any rules needed to be changed? there is no rule which i can find that discussion must occur in the discussion thread- discussion itself is optional and cdz is certainly not the only team that did it.

I don't think its a matter of rules and regulations. I think that the essence of CFC is people posting their tricks and tips so we all learn from each other so we can all become better players. Hopefuly at times we entertain each other as well. Its difficult to do that if people are posting their discussions off site.

Not so much because there was a program created so that every post we did make offsite was copied and posted here- there were about 20-30 posts per post just i dont think many read them.
