Next Sneak Peak

I'm also thinking the Mongols are most likely. That said, I really would love to be wrong and see leaders and civilizations like Timur/Tamerlane or Georgia added. There are a lot of old civilizations that have been overlooked in this game time and time again so I'd hope to see Firaxis bringing more in.

That said, there are a good number of major civilizations that simply should be part of the game and the Mongolians are currently conspicuously missing.

Civilizations that I believe are significant enough to always warrant inclusion:
  • Mongolia
  • Turkey/Ottoman Empire
  • Mali/Songhai
  • Inca
  • A Native American civilization

Civilizations/Modern States that I'd love to see represented:
  • Sukhothai/Ayutthaya/Siam/Thailand (I'm a scholar of SEAsia, and Thailand in particular - what can I say?)
  • Burma (lets just keep filling in SE Asia - and damnit, I want Pagan to be a capital city!)
  • Nigeria (As Africa's most populous state, it could be a surprise choice - but the lack of real state cohesion or great leaders in the past century makes this unlikely)
  • South Africa (The most natural choice for a modern Sub-Saharan African state)
  • Timurid Empire (Central Asia really needs better representation and Timur/Tamerlane is a leader that has been overlooked in Civ)
  • Maori
  • Madagascar-related civ
  • Something to represent the Caucasus - Georgia is the most obvious choice
  • Mexico (Given the historical significance of Mexico vis-a-vis other Latin American states, it is arguably the most overlooked modern state in the Americas insofar as civ is concerned)
  • Bolivia (Maybe a surprise inclusion instead of, say, the Inca)
  • Nepal or Bhutan!!!
I suspect that the expansion after R&F may focus more on end game and could bring in more modern states. If that's the case then some of the civs above may be possible later on (and some, like Mexico, would simply be more likely to be in the game. South Africa, Mexico, Canada, New Zealand, Argentina, Cuba are all possibilities if they do choose to start including more modern countries - though there is already some indication Canada will be in this expansion.

Is it possible we get a double civ FL this week because next week is already Christmas?

What if the clues both lead to Mongols and Georgia?

It's one of the possibilities.

It could be two this week, or next week's is Thursday instead of Tuesday, or they don't do one for the next two weeks due to holidays and have doubles the second and third weeks of January.

Does put another spin on Georgia on my mind

However, there are 6 leaders to be revealed and excepting the christmas week, 6 Tuesdays to go

genghis nyan leading the meowngols, where do i put my money

I don't think they'd put an alternate leader in the expansion that wasn't in the vanilla version, seems messy to make it an alternate Persia leader when everyone wouldn't naturally have Persia to start with.
It's not entirely senseless. Persia's a civ that really shouldn't be relegated to DLC, and giving them an alternate leader in an expansion would be one way to form a compromise between players who bought the DLC (to which its current leader would still be exclusive) and players who did not (who would still have access to the civ itself, but only one of its leaders.)

I don't really expect it to happen, since the alternate leader system seems to be a huge investment and it's probably better used elsewhere (as although Cyrus is a questionable representation of Cyrus, model aside, he's a good leader pick), but there'd be a logical reason for it if it did.

So the money is on the Mongols? I was expecting a Civ/Leader not from East Asia, but oh well....:D

Genghis Khan will join the ranks of returning Civ5 leaders (Alexander, Gandhi, Pedro II, and Montezuma I).

I am mostly hyped for the music. I love dark and warlike themes. (I.E. Everything the mongols sounds like it would be), but I am also hyped for my East Asia games to be more spiced up. China can normally steam roll (now with Korea and Mongolia they will have more competition). Same with Japan and having Korea. I played a game as Japan the other day and I literally met NO ONE until 150 turns into the game (And I had already colonized all of Japan). I was playing with every civ in the game, just they never really expanded my direction for me to find them :P

Would the alternate leader be from a DLC civ? Would you then need the DLC to play as that leader?

As someone pointed out, its unlikely they include one of the DLC civs in the expansion. Therefore, it seems to me, it is also unlikely the alt leader will be for a DLC civ. Possible I guess. But I am expecting it to be an alt for one of the base civs.

Yeah. Ögedei Khan :p

Btw. I thought that the flames are reference to the flame from the Soyombo symbol, which was Civ V Mongolian icon :p

Also hoping for Ogedei here!

While I think the alt leader is far more likely to be for either one of the base civs (Rome, Germany, India) or for one of the new ones (Italy, Turks), there's a possibility they add Persia with a different leader for the expansion, and the DLC then would be one full civ and one different leader for Persia for people who bought the expansion.

For me, all Genghis Khan, Kublai Khan and Ögedei Khan are good choices :P Genghis and Ögedei could make good leaders for warmongering Mongolia, while Kublai could focus on other things, like culture.

The clues look like it points specifically to Genghis.
The alt leader will be from an existing Civ as it has been said before.
