The 49ers are officially desperate.

Also, I'm having trouble figuring out why the Cardinals should fall for the "fixing" he'd do for Kevin Kolb. Reid had Kolb for four years in Philly. If he couldn't fix Kolb then, how is he going to fix him now?

There isn't really one. Most people expect either the Cheatriots or the Broncos to win the AFC, and the NFC is wide open so long as nobody believes in the Fal***ts.

X-post from the regular season thread -

in a case of internet irony, Big Red will interview for Arizona Cardinals head coaching vacancy  well, Serutan ?

all kidding aside, he could do well in the Desert. and for him to possibly reunite with Kolb is another stroke of irony. i wish Reid well. he's a good coach, best in eagles history. and a genuinely good guy. but it was time as they say :)

Yes, it was time. Even in the old days, a coach eventually went stale (Noll, Shula,
Halas, Landry). It's just so rare for a coach to last that long that it's not an easy
thing to remember.

IF Reid agrees to a deal that does not give him final say on personnel, it could be
a good thing - change of scenery, etc. etc. I think like Holmgren he should just
stick to coaching.

If QB and OL aren't prioritized in the draft/trade/FA though, it won't matter who is
hired. Under Reid, Kolb might be a stopgap while the new QB is groomed. I also
wouldn't mind them taking a crack at Flynn provided it doesn't cost more than one
medium round pick.

Rayman announced he's going to retire after the playoffs.

Whatever else you might think of him, at least he was smart enough not to go
the Unitas/Willie Mays route.

As sad as I am to say it, I really don't see the Niners winning this year. They have looked pretty poor the last few weeks and I can't see them putting together a string of wins.

Round one
Redskins over Seahawks
Packers over Vikings
Colts over Ravens
Bengals over Texans

Round two
Redskins over Falcons
Packers over 49ers
Broncos over Bengals
Patriots over Colts

Round three
Packers over Redskins
Broncos over Patriots

Super Bowl
Broncos over Packers 28-24

the Unitas/Willie Mays route.
Actually, I think the Ravens would have kept him anyway.

The amusing thing about the Reid-Eagles thing is that there's no real upgrade over Reid out there waiting in the wings. I don't think that firing him was necessarily the wrong decision, but it certainly doesn't seem logical; the Eagles won't be trading up with their next head coach, whomever he is.

I wasn't thinking about switching teams, but sticking around so long
that you just become pathetic.

I don't know. He seemed to still have enough in the tank. He at least had the mind for it.

I'm expecting a coaching position for Ray in a few years.

Tuesday Ried was all but guaranteed to go to AZ (according to the bobbleheads). Today, he's
all but guaranteed to go to KC. If true, I hope the Cards hire Horton, and take a shot at Norv
Turner for OC.

What really has A.Reid done lately to show you he is a good coach? :scan:

I mean... my grandma could have done that well with the huge influx of free agents and money spent.

We say give it to McCoy- he doesn't.
We say get some LBs- he doesn't.
Pay CBs tons of money to do absolutely nothing.
Have M.Vick- but can't keep him standing up non-concussed.

They haven't done squat lately.
