Is there no way to commit genocide in this game? I miss being able to starve off captured cultures and not always for my own sadism, sometimes it's required to maintain control of a city :p . In my current game I captured an Aztec city in the center of their empire and it continues to revolt even with huge garrisons.

Is there no way to kill off the Aztec population? They should definetly add this in any expansion pack, maybe along with a UN resolution forbidding it?

    Course there is :
    (1) Put them all to work Mines and forrests and give them very little or no food, you get alot of production while they starve.
    (2) Adopt slavery and vip them to death while they produce military equipment or buildings, whatever you need.
    (3) Burn the city to the ground and kill everyone in it, then settle your own city.

I noticed that the culture percentage of the other civilization remains even when you found your city on top of or near the site of a city that was just razed. A location better suited to what I wanted was located next to the position of a city, so when I took it I razed it. Culture of the other civilization no longer extended anywhere near it. When I then settled in the square next to where the city was located, I had about 5 or 10% for my own culture. It took a long time to start climbing.

Well, how many civilizations go through the trouble of scouring the entire countryside and killing every rival ethnic group? How many of them actually succeeded? And, given that they didn't put Hitler in as a leader or let the spies commit terrorist acts, I think they'd rather skip a non-important game mechanic like letting you kill off everyone you don't like. Just take over the world and imagine you're cleansing them afterwards.

Perhaps the OP is either too young or naive to understand the full implications of what he is describing (moreover in a disturbingly nonchalent and cheerful disposition) but that first post, quite frankly, frightens me.

Regardless of whether he thinks it's an objective discussion of real-world issues, or whether he thinks that "this being just a game" appropriates that kind of reasoning, I have a feeling it's time he got out a bit more.

It IS just a game, monitor173. A game where you play against computer AI, against pixels and bytes. It's not real, nobody really dies, it's just about strategy and exploiting the AI ... :D

    aye, I know that.

Still there seems a world of difference between shooting at pixellated nazis, and discussing ways to mass murder of an entire race, albeit in a game. Perhaps scale is the distinguishing issue, or maybe it's some idiosyncracy of the way the OP expressed his ideas.

Well you should be nervous. Naturally I am posting this question in an effort to learn how to commit real genocide in the real world. That's why I've been playing civilization all these years; to hone my skills. So when I finally get into power I can turn my country of control into a cities of coal miners in an effort to starve them off. HAMMERS FOR EVERYONE! BUT AN OUNCE OF BREAD FOR NOBODY!

I just got this picture in my head of an Oliver Twist-style moppet in ragged clothes, looking quizzically at a ball-peen hammer in his little tin bowl. I laughed right out loud.

    And that's terrible.

We'll see who conquers who first. I've got a full proof plan of conquest already mapped out and generals in place. It all starts in Canada...oops, I've said too much.

Turn their workers into specialists so they aren't producing food and pop rush the rest. Won't solve the problem you are having though. What you need is to introduce your culture into the city.
