No interface for scenarios only

I'm playing CIV BTS using the 3.19 patch (although my problem was present with the other patch as well), the latest BUG, and with Blue Marble. Anyway, the regular game runs fine, but when I try to play a scenario like MesoAmerica or Defense, there is no interface whatsoever. It's not a huge deal, but I would like to try out some of these scenarios. I would appreciate any help.

is BUG installed in custom assets?

I believe that it is although I'm not completely sure (there are BUG files in the custom assets). BUG was installed using the EXE installer single-player. I notice in the BUG section in C & C a similar thread (although the problem did not crop up in scenarios only), so I'll try asking there as well. The image there is pretty much the same that I get when trying scenarios.

try just renaming the custom assets folder - does the same thing occur then?

That put added the interface back to the scenarios, but it took off BUG & Blue Marble from loading when I start the game. Do I reinstall BUG to the custom assets and I'm good to go? Do I delete afterwards the old custom assets folder after I make sure that everything works properly?

this just shows that *something* with the BUG mod does this - hence the better subforum for this is the BUG subforum
I would just try obtaining the latest version of BUG (and Blue Marble) and reinstall those - then delete the old custom assets

Yes, that would be my first try as well. Given that you don't have any custom stuff of your own in CustomAssets, it's pretty easy to reinstall BUG and BM and see what happens. I can't think of anything in BUG that would affect scenarios in a different way than normal games. What scenario are you trying?

I am not familiar with the Meso scenario but I have played Defense a bit. It is totally different from BtS. It has modified some files to obtain these differences. BUG also modifies these files. So, when you load Defense, the Defense version of the file is being discarded in preference to the BUG version ... this causes errors and no interface. I am pretty sure that you cannot use BUG with Defense. BM should be ok.

Oh, I missed the scenario names. So these are really mods rather than scenarios, right? They fall into the same camp as Next War.

Thanks for the help and the explanation. I understand now what is going on. I'll try to fix it when I get the chance. Btw, EF there's a thread in S&T section of shadow games of the ALC. You can probably post details of your game there if you want.
