"No Leaderheads" Option to speed late-game diplomacy requests.

Should there be a "No 3D Leaderheads" option so to improve late game performance?

We all know your score, Grimus. ;) Boudicca would look a lot less... erm, Boudiccan... if she weren't animated. :p

@Will9: An option would be very nice, I agree, however I don't fully understand your point. Are you saying that you'd like to switch back and forth during times of "heavy leaderhead use," e.g. during the late game? Because if that's the case, then it sounds more like an issue of memory (which can be solved in other ways) than overall game performance. The people in dire need of this option need better performance throughout the game, hence they would have it turned off for the entire duration. Therefore, they might as well just use the mod. Does that make sense?

I think animated leaderheads were the worst addition to CIV. All that time spent doing that artwork and no wonder movies? For shame! For those questioning people's slowdown, each leaderhead is 5-10mb of textures, all of which needs to be loaded and running for the animation to begin.

What do you mean "no wonder movies"? And 5-10 MB isn't that much in space all together. You guys need to GET MACS! With bootcamp of course. ;)

You must not have played Civ2, or you'd know what I was talking about.

And the 5-10 megs isn't about hard drive space, its about loading up the textures into video memory to be displayed on the screen. Most laptops have crappy video cards with limited memory, thus it takes forever for them to load the textures for the leaderheads.

While I have no such problems whatsoever, this could be a useful and easy to implement fix for people with lower end specs.

It would go in the graphics options easily, where you select multiple troop units etc.
