No voiceovers in direct2drive buy?

(Edit: FIXED. The folks at direct2drive provided a hotfix very quickly. Civ4 now runs #1 with all features that were "missing" from the online download)

I bough the game from direct2drive.com ... a online download. The download/installation/registration process was smooth. (1.3 Gb EXE )

But... I read in reviews that there were voiceovers (Nimoy?) when tech were discovered. I have no such voiceovers.
My "Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Assets\Sounds\Tech\"
directory is empty...
I wonder if other content is missing (I have intro movie, background musics, wonder movies... nothing critical seems missing.)

I dont think it's an installation problem; but a CHEAP way to save bandwith when selling the game online.
But their website states "The Civilization 4 Download is the same exact game as you would get in a retail store."
Any thoughts on that ? Am I wrong?

i have checked my \Tech\ folder it's only 7.41 MB and contain 172 wav files!

therefore i doubt they would cut it out just to reduce the installer 7.41 Mb!
More likely an installer error...
Anyway i have missing file issue too and installed the game fine, though

7.4 mb for 172 wav files? I think you didnt compute the directory size correctly
Can you confirm that those are the voiceovers for the techs? I want to have a correct "bug report" when I will write flames to the online store.

He's right, it's only 7 megs.. but it's mp3s not wavs so it makes sense.

And just checked them, they're not the quotes you get when you discover techs.. the all just say "you have discovered (tech)"
Except for the one for satellites :S

Ok, so... um.
I have no tech voiceovers (are there in the normal retail game?); where should the .mp3 of those should be? It may be a installation error (or, a directX sound output error) but... I doubt it.

My computer is rock stable; no funny behavior... and everything else in civ4 works ok so far. (Well, tutorial crashed&burned at loading time about directX device... but i'm not the only one with that issue it seems. And I dont need a tutorial anyway :-D )

As you said on your first post, the mp3s for the voiceovers are at "Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Assets\Sounds\Tech\"... if that folder is empty, then you don't have them.

Ok, I was just "guessing" that the "tech/" directory was it. Thanks for the confirmation.

direct2drive tech support just released a hotfix to resolve those issues.

1) PDF Game Manual and Tech Tree added
2) Patch fixing the "no voice-over" issue
3) Missing Tech Sound error fixed

At least, it was a simple installer error that got resolved quickly.
