No Whale??

Can anybody te me why I don't have whale as resource on my city screen, thow I do have a whaling boat on the whale tile??

Yeah... I backed-up whale obsoletion from combustion to ecology... obsoleted too fast for my liking.

I have always been confused with the whale obsoletion.

When it becomes obsolete I still have the whale, the fishing ship, the food, the hammer and the coins.

So is it just obsolete as far as trading it?

The tile still produces the but you don't get the resource. It's like if you had a copper mine but no road and it wasn't connected to your trade network.

I don't think this is true. I remember having seen trades getting cancelled when Civs reach one of the mentioned techs. This might be an issue with Vanilla / BtS, because I also remember having been able to trade that resource.

Test would be interesting, what I assume is, that it's not like there is no road or whatever, it's more like the old oil gets replaced by new one.

If you have combustion you can still trade the whale to a Civ who doesn't have combustion yet. When that Civ reaches combustion they will cancel the deal since it no longer have any value for them. For once, the AI does the smart thing

Duh, the reason why whales don't show up on his screen is because they are lies invented by the librul media to make us care about the environment. Once you can burn the fake dinosaur corpses buried by God to confuse us about the age of the Earth, fake-whales are irrelevant.
