Nobles' Club 369: Huayna Capac of the Incas

Playing after a few months and rusty.

550 BC (Immortal):

Legendary marble settle! Great starting spot. I went for gold as second city because Sulieman took the cow city to the southwest. Felt land constrained so seemed like clear HA rush situation. I sorta regret settling the 4th city on the east coast as it didn't support the war effort or economy short term. Long term it's nice to have that land since Mansa would grab it eventually.

War went smoothly except for start where I lost a bunch of 25-40% shots, but had ~12 units which was enough. Settled for peace and got Alphabet in return. Good payoff. Sulieman has 3 crap cities on the south coast which I will just let him keep for now. Maybe vassal him later. Pretty close to construction. Think I can go for softy Willem but with catapults maybe I should take on Mansa's skirmishers?

I'm only on my first Emperor level game so this one was Monarch for me. Why no Q rush if you don't mind me asking? Is that not possible on this level?

Q rushing is viable (assuming nearby targets, anyhow) on any difficulty above Prince for sure. Prince and below doesn't give the AIs free Archery tech, and as it turns out Qs vs. Warriors is a much less favorable matchup :crazyeye:.

(You can still rush AIs with pretty much whatever you want on Prince difficulty or below, mind, but at that level Qs aren't really noticeably different than Aggressive Warriors early on.)

I can imagine many MP games starting with Warrior rushes. The AI is much more gentle in that regard

I kinda of suck at early rushes like chariots and timing things correctly so decided to be more patient. I'm gonna replay this game later and try for Q rush.

ah, well to be honest it was my first successful early rush. Gandhi kicked my butt the only other time I'd tried playing one. Henrik has a Q rush on youtube btw

Q rushing is way easier and more reliable than chariot rushing though. You can have a neighboring capital down in 3000 BC, thousands of years before you'd even attack with chariots.

1330 AD (immortal):

I have 40 cavalry and game is almost done. I'm very bad about finishing games so I will finish this last epic battle against Justinian someday.

Mansa peace vassaled when I was still researching towards cuirs. First took out Freddy, then Brennus. Willem capped after I took 1 city. Good softies around me made for an easier game. Guess I will focus on finishing this as efficiently/quickly as possible.

Domination at 1430.

I managed to capture these 4 barb cities in the north which nicely setup the game. It allowed teching comfortably to cuirs.
