Back in Civ4, I never played a non-random map (except once for a fan-made Entire Earth map).
In Civ5, I initially had the same approach, but the more tactical style of combat made me rethink it. "For this style of combat", I thought, "hand-made map with interesting choke-points and such would be awesome". So I decided to try some of the official non-random maps.
Currently I'm finishing a game in the Bering Strait map (Explorer's Pack), and I'm loving it. What about everyone else? Do you play this type of map? Any particular one you like? What about those Cradle of Civilization maps, are they good interesting?
