I've been signing up new ffh players as much as I can, with moderate success, but I ran into a new problem last night.

After the newest member to the ffh family got her downloads and hamachi, we tried to load up a game, only to discover her interface wont appear.

I'm too much of a noob and non-techy to be of any assistance whatsoever. I had her try alt+I and ctl+I, but neither command brought the interface up. If anyone can help us out with this I would be very grateful. :(

- Delete or rename customassets.
- Make sure she installed in the Program Files\ ---- mods\ directory and not in the My Documents\...
- Check if she installed FFH 0.22h on top of 0.21.
- Delete CACHE, this can be done by holding shift while clicking the shortcut.

There was an issue fixed in patch "d" and later that would cause you to have a blank interface. So make sure you have the latest patch applied.

Hey! New here... And I'm sadly the one who needs assistance.

The second suggestion on Grey Fox's list is what particularly caught my eye. The game itself was installed into My Documents, thus I sent any extra files I happened to download to that folder. However, if you wish me to install the mod into Program Files, should I uninstall then reinstall the entire game, plus the mod, plus the patch to that location?

I hope that's not the case, but if you guys think it'll work then I'll try it. And thanks for your help!

It should be installed into C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Mods\ on a default install, Civilization4.exe is one level up.

The game also has files at C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4, which has a mods directory too, but nothing (should) be in it. There is no civilization4.exe file in this directory(by default).

However, I didn't use the default options for the original installation. Due to my computer having multiple users, and me being the only one that actually plays games, I thought it best to simply install it in my own section of files rather than having it be a shared document in Program Files.

Thus, I have no Firaxis Games folder or any of its subsequent subfolders in Program Files. Does this indeed call for a complete reinstall?

I don't know for sure that it won't cause an issue ;)

Before reinstalling, find civilization4.exe(right click the shortcut, properties, find target). Then click on the Mods folder(not CIV4CustomMods shortcut), Fall from Heaven 2 022 should be here.

Hmm... It doesn't seem to be there. I do suppose that's a rather big problem... There's American Revolution, Desert War, Greek World, and Tutorial.

The FFH mod's located in My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\MODS\Fall from Heaven 2 022.

You need to reinstall the game in the default directory which would go under Program Files.

Notice Grey Fox says the same...

I did the same as you first time :)

I have had experience with the install only for this user setting in the original install. For me I had to make sure that the mod was installed in the mods folder directly under my civ install. For us install only for this user users that is the c:\documents and settings\username\(don't remember the rest offhand)\mods directory...not the default c:\program files\firaxis games\civilization 4\mods directory in which the mod tries to install itself. To find out exactly what the part I don't remember is right click on the icon and do properties and look at the link there.

Make sure you get the both the mod and the patch installed in this directory and everything should be fine (first time I did the patch in the right directory but the mod in the wrong directory and had the no interface problem in addition to multiple other issues but it was a simple fix when i realized what an idiot I was).

Thanks a lot for the help peeps. Especially you, Kael. You make the world a happier place one game and one grateful beneficiary at a time. :)
