This is a preliminary plan and will almost likely change as we explore more of the northern unknown region.

The yellow lines represent known and probable Zulu borders.
The red lines are future city borders.

There are 2 proposed cities, #1 is likely going to be built soon (maybe). It would be the launching point for our colonization of the northern region. City 2 will be founded as a stop to the Zulu expansion. Once we found city 2 the Zulu will be forced to expand west into the desert or south into the Romans (taking into consideration theres a civ north of them, which is probable).

Please take note that the coast north of city 1 is a bay, the bay is probably shaped like this: > . I also recommend using the warrior to explore the hills to the west, as that will be the next likely place for a city. I'm expecting there to be another civ to the north or northwest, and the land to extend to the very top.

*Forgive my crude lines. I don't know how to turn the grid on.

site #1 has to do with cyc's 3 proposals to get the iron, and im afraid by the time we reach #2 it will be taken over already...

Blackheart, two things.
1. When you're playing Civ3, if you click on the top left icon (file) a sub menu appears, in which the first option is map. If you click on map another sub menu appears. If you click on the top option, you turn the grid on.
2. When you make a map for city locations, quit making them so macro-centric. Hiding the surrounding terrain to emphasize your location hinders one perspective of the big picture. In your picture above, I would like to see what is in the SE corner in perspective to your proposed city locations (under the info window). It also appears you're using PTW or C3C when you view the game. This may wind up altering some of the factual aspects of the save.

Blackheart, good start

However, I consider this work in progress, and will see a total strategy closely linked to how we want to shape our relationship with the Zulus. This will be a strategy input from the foreign Affairs, but not usurping the powers of the ministries, but giving qualified feedback on how we should proceed with the foreign relations.

Also, Blackheart ~ Could you please resize your maps so that their width is 800 or less? Heigth doesn't matter much, but an =<800 pixel width makes reading a lot easier. :)

#2 is a great place if we could get to it first. Good idea to stop zulu expansion, hope we will have some luck.

I don't have my Civ3 disc, I gave it to my brother and won't be getting it back for a month. I've checked it over the only thing altered by using C3C are the new buttons at the left, since it loads all data from the .sav file. Is there any way to get rid of the mini map and the status bar at the lower left?

As for site #2, that is just a preliminary plan since I don't know much else of the map. There is a possibility that the Zulu will expand eastwards because it might be a greener pasture.

That's where I was thinking of expanding next, either that or on the coast, just depends on what we discover about the terrain.

Please focus on developing our core instead of Mûre like cities scattered around the globe.

I'm not planning to leave any cities cut off. This plan will utilize a connected border and use of almost every tile in our border. If by core you meant south and eastward, please take notice of the other civ's close proximity to us.

I see what you mean. You've got to realize though that expanding north may be the only way to keep ourselves from being boxed in. But I do intend to not have any gaps and have a continuous land border

Yes, but we will likely already have one source of iron secure by that time. I want to see what the terrain is like there first.

It looks like the Zulu have already secured the iron hills. Curse them! We still have a chance if we claim territory close to the coast.

Grid on = Ctrl-G
Toggle minimap, info panel, command buttons = Delete

I agree with Cyc, it would help a lot to see a bit more context around the proposed sites.

Rik, I must disagree on one point, the priority of building core cities or the next ring out first. If we build the 2nd ring first and someone steals an inner ring location, we can try to flip the intruder. If we miss out on an outer ring location, there is likely no way we can recover without going to war. When playing this close quarters (why on a large map are we so close???) we need to expand as far towards our neighbors as possible stealing their outer rings, and then fill in.

I think we can still follow the set of cities I suggested. I like having a nice core to work it (and I do not like building cities in such a way that waste interior core tiles - we seem to have a habit of doing that...).
